tmaxx motor runs backward

Nitro engines can run backwards but not very well. When you crank the engine the flywheel should turn counter clockwise when looking at the front (flywheel side) of the engine.
If the truck is going in reverse with a forward only conversion the only possible cause is that both differentials are installed uoside down.
There is a OWB in the transmission and IF the engine were to be runnng backwards the truck would not move.

The diffs are in backwords/upside down. Unless you have a bump start engine it won't run backwords at all. Are you 100% sure it has a forward only?

They will run backwards if the OWB is backwards and the wires on the starter motor are reversed

I had a .28 when running 30% if I ran anything but cold plugs it would pre-det and run backwards. I had it happen at the local track...plug died on me and one of the guys gave me another...did not know it was a Hot plug. So I am running a couple pacactice laps and stopped in front of the pits. After I stopped thing made a strange coughing sound and it started running funny so I gassed it to keep it from dying....SOB had reversed direction.

hey guys, yes i bought it used, with the foward nd reverse, i put it the foward only shaft nd the truck went backwards, so i just said forget it, nd put the foward nd reverse back in it. but at first it was scary when it went backwards lol. in other words its fixed nd the foward only kit is in my tmaxx nitro to electric conversion.

Well it’s not fixed, its just working for you for the time being…
Running with the diffs upside down will kill the reverse primary gear soon.

how do i find out that the diffs are upside down? (i hope u know wat i mean)

Yep, I know exactly what you mean.
When looking at the rear diff from the rear of the truck- The screw heads that hold the diff housing together should be on the right side.
When looking at the front diff from the front of the truck the screw heads should also be on the right side.
When looking at the rear diff from the rear of the truck- The screw heads that hold the diff housing together should be on the right side.
When looking at the front diff from the front of the truck the screw heads should also be on the right side.
I've had pull-start engines run backwards when the OWB was worn.
Your issue though definitely sounds like the diffs.

both diffs r both rght. both r on the rght side. idk wat to do now. lol
