Hey for some reason my tmaxx 2.5 with a 3.3 engine just revs. It was running fine before then i had to change the spur gear. And now it wont move it just revs up. I made sure it was in gear(Forward) and it just till revs up and wont move.

I was playing with it today before this happen it and just stopped and started to rev up.

What could be my problem?

if it is not spinning the spur gear or the clutch bell you probly snapped a spring on the clutch.... or make sure you tighten the clutch on the spur gear enough......... and if that aint it make sure the pins you pulled out and put back in on the center driveshafts. (when you changed the spur) they might have backed out being freshly reput together....... If it isnt any of these three things let us know and we will be sure to help until it gets fixxed!!!!!!!!!! Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!

Well i made sure my spur gear was tighten. And i also remove the clutch housing and clutch. I am wondering how do i check if my clutch is bad? Could it be possible that the clutch is pads are worn out..

Yes my spur gear and my gear that is on the engine both spin when i give it gas. It just wont go forward or reverse.

What do you mean by pins? Are you talking about the little red dots that where inside the old spur gear? Do i need to put those in the new one because they didn't have none

yeah you have to re use them unless you buy new ones that is definetly your problem if you didnt put them in your new spur gear..... The pins I was talking about are the pin you have to screw in with the allen wrench where the center drive shaft ataches to the tranny output shaft.... but if you didnt put your red clutch pegs in the new spur gear.... those are what makes contact and are basically your clutch pads on that set up.... put all those in you could even skip every other but I always use all of them so I know it will work........ but after you put those in you will modt likely be able to drive it again....

The only time you dont reuse them like i said is if you buy new ones to use or if you get an upgrade slipper clutch kit...

Well thats my problem then, I did not put the red clutch pegs in the new spur gear. I am going to put those in tomorrow and see if that fixes my problem. It should because everything was working fine before.

yup!!!! if something looks diferent then what you take out it always pay to either check to see if you got all the parts you needed.... or come on here and aske before you put it all back together........ it helps save acouple steps..

+1 Matt no spare parts left over!:p:

Actually, you would be better off putting as many pegs in as you can, so buy more if you don't have enough to fill all the holes. With the stronger engine, your going to be more prone to burning up the pegs anyway. The more you have, the better they will grab and the longer it will take for them to grind down.

yeah I have been told by a bunch of people that i didnt need them all but I dont see any reason to short change myself by using less of something so important to gettin my rig to go...

My old spur gear it stripped out.. But i did notice i only had like 6 pegs skip every other hole. I am going to get fresh pegs sense i need more to fill up all the holes.

Thanks. I will get some more and let you guys know if that fixes my problem..
It should though :)

I normally pick up like 3 or 4 spur gears just incase... you never know when you are gonna do something dumb while running it or just pure bad luck....... that and I always have a spare clutch rebuild kit.. thats saved me from calling it an early day abunch of times!!!!

Well this is my first Nitro so i am still learning but now i know what parts wear and burn out the fastest. So i am going to probably do the same thing have a few spare parts because yesterday i had to call it a early day.. Even though i was just playing in the yard.

Yup, I have had the spur melt away in the middle, filling all the holes with the pegs would definately be better, I agree. Although, if you have the slipper and gear mesh set up properly, you shouldnt have to replace all that often.

I've had the spur melt in the middle too, I think it was due to all 12 fricton pegs and a tightened slipper nut, I run mine now with just six, it pops wheelies and runs great....

Also run just six on one of my older t-maxx 2.5's converted to a 3.3, No problems to date with it and it takes a good bashing every time I use the particular one.. (knocks on wood that things stay well) lol...

I got the friction pegs and i put those in and that fixed my problem..

My Spur Gear was almost ruined. But i saved it, the holes where the friction peg go were all melted together so i had to poke the melted plastic out the holes.

And i also filled all the holes on the spur gear up with the pegs. Instead of using 6 i used all 12
