Hey yall I'm new to the nitro hobby and came up on a hell of a deal with this 2.5 tmaxx i understand its a lil older but it used to run real good...but i took it apart to clean it and lost my tune. but i also smoked the ez start and ended up putting a tiger drive start on it. but now i got it all put back together and it cranks but wont start. I've adjusted the crap out of both the needles and i guess either I'm gettin too much or not enough fuel? can you guys help like get a good startin place with the needles to try to get it started. oh yeah when it sounds like its crankin the most if i turn it over it poors fuel out the exhaust so obviouslly too rich.... uh like i said any help you can give would be appreciated...

Did you seal the engine back up with rtv? If not, read the tuning tips and tricks at the top of the nitro forum. It explains sealing engines in detail. After the engine is sealed and the rtv is cured, set your hsn to 3 1/2 turns out. 1 3/4 turns out on the lsn. Make sure your ignitor is fully charged. If your using an alkaline, get a 2000mah+ nimh cell for the ignitor. Make sure to use a new glow plug as well. Don't over prime the engine. Sounds like you currently have it flooded.

Don't be afraid to try a new glow plug after setting the needles back to factory spec. I just tried some lucky seven engine sealant. I don't know for sure yet if it works, but my new picco is all done with it, just waiting for spring. I've read alot of good things about it, it 'wicks' into tiny cracks and crevices like penetrating oil but is actually a sealant. This way you do not have to take the engine apart, and when you do, no mess! Not to mention, I just can't trust rtv anymore, been there done that, I've seen it get a little funky from nitromethane exposure.

tryin yalls help out

Well i did all the stuff you guys told me to now is the last thing to go adjust the carb and try it again....got a buddy thats pretty good with nitros comin over to assist so ill let you guys know how it turns out...thanks again

tryed it nogo

Well i tried everything and its gettin fuel and the glow plug is hot enough cuz we tested it in a savage and the savage started right up.....its kinda actin like the drill I'm usin isnt fast enough...i dont have a roto start so i dunno maybe thats a problem??? i had it runnin right before the starter went so i dunno.....do you guys think that the lil 7.2 v drill could not be fast enough???

Well got a better drill and got it goin.....so now i know i need to buy a better cordless drill or a roto start.....uh got it goin but it just wouldnt start up right away so I'm in the process of gettin a .21 engine for it so maybe thatll be better but i still wanna keep this engine in good working condition so if the other one falls out i can have the stocker to put back in.....i took the head off and attempted the seal but i gotta get some better sealant stuff any ideas on that???what to use??? and sealed the carb up

No need to seal the head, just make sure everything is nice and clean. If you've tried rtv and don't like it then try the lucky seven. Associated green slime works wonders on o-rings too.

Well about earlier i didnt really use rtv it was this poop called "seal all" but just went and got some brake parts cleaner and some red high heat rtv. so just cleaned it up and sealed it up waitin till the mornin to go at it again... just gotta get the exhaust for the .21 so n e body has n e suggestions or hell if ya wanna give it away I'm always open for that lol

so now the drill I'm usin is too fast ahhhh wtf...lol its puttin way too much fuel into it so I'm gunna go back to my old drill and use the ez start box to just heat the glow plug cuz my glow plug ate through 2 c batteries like it wasn't nuthin......ahhh can't wait till payday to get that exhaust for that .21 cuz I've noticed these dadgum traxxas motors suck and are way too hard to tune....owell....that .21 is modded and its a beast so more to follow...unless n e body wants to help out and just ship me some .21 exhaust lol

The speed at which the starter spins the engine isn't what's causing it to flood. Take the plug out, get all of the excess fuel out of the engine, and let it sit with the plug out for about an hour. Reinstall the plug, but don't prime the engine. Get it cranking, then put your finger over the exhaust for only a half second at a time or so until it catches and fires. Let it warm up and tune it in from there.

Well I've already tried all that shoot i think I've tried everything i know plus a bunch of other ppl to get it started and i think its either lost its pinch or just is a sorry a** traxxas motor.....sooo just leavin it alone until i get that .21 on there and get the exhaust.....owell my parts for my brushless should be in tom. so ill just bash with that one

yeah i can spin it easy but not too easy with my hand so I'm bettin its either got a compression leak somewhere or the pinch is gone...owell thank god i got that .21

well got the .21 and now obviously gotta do some customizin cuz it dont fit at all......so well see what we can work......n e body know of any kits???

well took it to my local r/c guru and yeah the pinch is gone ...so I'm gunna keep it and rebuild it or maybe just sell it unless yall know a good price to get rid of it at.....even bein broke???? workin on gettin that .21 on there with no upgraded chassis at all hahahah ill post pics and vid if i get it goin... i appreciate all the help thanks yall
