The end of June I will be buying a new engine for my wide Maxx. Still not made up my mine yet.

Can anyone list all the direct drop in engines and the ones that just take a small amount of work and parts to install.

I have heard the bearings in the Dyn 2 .19 wear out fast. If so how much would it cost to replace them with some good ones?

Can afford the O.s. 21.lol.
My truck can't handle the Picco .26.
I am droping the Picco .26 into a new Extended Chassis Tmaxx that I am building, but that will be in the spring of 2014. Still got a lot of money to put into the X chassis.
 
The dynamite .19T will be a good drop in if you spend $30 more for a good set of boca bearings for it. Mine lasted into the 3rd gallon before the rear crank bearing came apart and sent pieces all thru sleeve damaging piston skirt. Before that it ran great.

Snook how would you say that motor compares to the trx 3.3

I would go with the Rossi Snook recommended. The Picco engines like the red dot seem to have bearing problems also. I would think the Rossi would make better power and torque than the 3.3 just being a Rossi. Also a good engine is the Sirio .18 I am currently running one and it out performs my 3.3 all together. I seen one listed on egay for like $75.00 the other day. It does take about a gallon of fuel to break them in though.

Very similar to a 3.3. The 4909 model Maxx it was in had big tires on it so I couldn’t really get a feel for the bottom end, but once I tuned it (owner had the idle gap too bid and was compensating with a rich LSN) I was able to pull wheelies with it even with the heavy tires. I couldn’t reach top speed on the track we were on as the truck did not handle well with the big tires, but I drove it on a long gravel road a few times and it pulled the big tires as well as a 3.3 would if not better. I also don’t think you would have to worry about the con rod running at top rpm’s like you would with a 3.3. Its just a better quality engine with a well built roto start included as well.

It’s a turbo plug so be aware they run about $10 a pop, but you should easily get a gallon or more on a turbo plug if tuned well.
 
I dont mean to highjack this thread but i have a 4910 with a 3.3 currently installed and I'm gonna be looking for a new motor b4 to long so i was curious as to if the rossi was as good or better than the 3.3 bc i would like to get a good quality motor thats at least as powerful as the 3.3 but will hold up better so i believe i will try the rossi once i decide to get me a new motor the plug isnt a problem i usually get mine to last pretty long

Has anyone on here actually run this engine?? I want to know how they compare to similar engines in and around the same market
Also seing that it is a roto start does anyone know if you can change that to either ez start or pull start cause if I can I'm gonna grab one next week for my slayer build

On paper the 21tm has .04 hp more
I think that if the nova has very similar power to the 21 doesn't the nova equate more value with quality to match but I'm only speculating as I havent run a nova nor have I heard of anyone running them other 5han what snook posted
I would really love to hear from more people with them, amain has dropped the price on the revo setup to $165
 
Well obviously it’s not going to have as much torque as the O.S .21; it’s just a .15 displacement.

chickenman, the cheezy start would not be a direct fit. The Nova uses an internal OWB and hex type starter shaft.
 
minds made up,its going in the slayer should be a good engine for a lighter truck
would have been super happy if i could bolt up a pullstart but oh well
