Is there an upgrade kit to upgrade the classic to the 3.3?

Mine has been in storage several years because of military obligations but now I'm back and want to get this thing going again. I've got the Tmaxx classic with the Hpi .15 SS and stinger exhaust installed, but am looking to upgrade to the Traxxas TRX 3.3...can I drop it in the classic TMaxx or do I need the extended chassis? I should also look at upgrading the transmission as well...

Any input is appreciated, thanks!

it will drop right in. the classic max had rotary carb correct? if so might have to change the linkage.

Far as i know 3.3 will drop right in. I think you have to change the linkage maybe someone here may know.

Yeah you will have to update the linkage.

I updated a classic to the 2.5r and had to drill a couple holes in the chassis for the bell crank and new linkage or buy a new blue chassis and avoid the headache of trying to figure out where you drill it. The .15 is a rotary carb and the 2.5 and 3.3 are slide carbs. I believe the tranny on the 3.3 has been beefed up as well, stronger gears and better slipper clutch.

You'll also need to upgrade the drive shafts cuase the 3.3 is just too powerful for the stock ones. They tend to strip at the u-joints.

As far as driveline: axles, knuckles, turn buckles and center drive shafts. By the time your done, you could have a new 3.3 maxx and enough parts to keep you going for months. Projects out weigh $ sometimes, though.

Depending on which "classic" you have (TRX2.5* vs pro15), you will also need a new header and exhaust. The 2.5/3.3 both are rear exhaust engines. The old pro15 was a side exhaust.
