My son has a 2.5 tmaxx and the only upgrades have been a FOC as far as drive line goes. Would there be any problems, as far as gearing, if I put a 3.3 in that I have laying around and a THS pipe?

You should be fine, you could probably get away with dropping a tooth or two on the Spur or add one on the clutchbell.

The drive shafts will twist fairly quick. Upgrading to revo spec driveline is relatively inexpensive. A propper slipper setting will help your stock drive shafts. In my oppinion, it will be well worth it. The 2.5's are way under powered for mt's. Have fun and upgrade as needed.

My tmaxx was the same and had a 3.3 put in it before I got it. The only problem I really had at first was the slipper clutch burnt up. I recommend purchasing the torque control slipper upgrade kit from traxxas and install it. Cost is $25 and very easy install. Comes with new input shaft and primary gears pretty much everything you need to install minus the tools. This upgrade will help assure you don't break more driveline components if you have it adjusted accordingly.
