HI all,
With the hot weather here our track is real dry and low traction like. So I was wondering what tires you racers use when it gets like this.

Low traction means what type of dirt? Loose, hardpacked/blue groove?

If the dirt has big chunks and not maintained, I find that badlands work great. If the track is maintained and or is hardpacked/blue grooved, crimefighters work well for me.

Sorry, The track is real smooth but its dry and really loose. And there isnt really a blue groove.

I think my track has that same specifications. Give Proline Knuckles 2.0 a try. They work well for me.

Panther step pins work great when they are new.....If your track is hard packed like it's rock then you want to use tires with lots of smaller treads (crimefighters, cell blocks and cubics type treads) so you get more surface contact to grip with.....if its loose and you're spinning tires you want bigger fat treads (badlands and knuckles)...they usually come in soft med hard compunds for most tires now so you need to decide where your budget allows for tires....harder compounds will last longer but usually won't give the best traction for the hard packed stuff.....soft compunds won't last long on hard surfaces but you will stick to the track alot better....hard treads won't flex as much in soft loose stuff but you give up alot of handling on the harder sections of the track.....tire selection is almost as much an srt form as tuning is....if you race be preppared to carry at least 3-4 sets of tires for a race day....usually get about 2 or 3 race days for a set of tires isn't performing at peak anymore.....

Right now I'm not recommending the GRP cubics buggy tire. One day to litres of fuel=bald tires. :depress:

I've tried Jolly and Losi Step pins. They both have good forward traction, but lack in side bite. My track is hard clay bumby as hell and just a little dust on the top. Next I have a set of m/s Panther switch and a set of Holeshot M2.

Thanks everyone, I think I'm gonna try the med Knuckles 1st. The reason I ask is because tires are so dang expensive right know.

I ran a set of A compound Cubics bald in one heat. They were decent it was the track I was at, it was eating tires. Right now sitting in my trailer at the nats I have 20 sets of tires. This is getting stupid!
