Are the stock 25RTR tires supposed to have foam inserts in them? If so I'm pretty sure mine are missing, tires are pretty squishy and almost roll right off the rims on hard cornering..

IF this is normal I'm definietly getting some lower profile tire/bigger rims.. Maybe something a little wider too..

stock savage tires are like that. There is foam in there belive it or not. that soft tire makes for a smoother ride. you will have some truck lean with those tires.

Don't worry about it too much. Your rims will strip in a gallon or 2, and then you can get new rims and foam.

Yea I think it is a soft foam insert in the stock tires......I am also getting new tires and rims for my 25, set of Jumbo Kongs, should also gain about an inch of ground clearence as well......I'll be sure to post pics as soon as I get them!

I just put the Proline Mambo 40series wheels with Proline 40series BigJoes on my Savage25.....WHAT A DIFFERENCE. This beast grabs the corners and craps them out now. When I was going full throttle with the stock tires it was insane to steer. With these BigJoes it just tears the corners new bungholes. I love em.

I was thinking about some Big Joe's. How's the performance? Acceleration and top end like? I figured since they were bigger, it would be a bit slower on acceleration but give good top end. May be something I can add to my christmas "want" list from the wifey....

Anyone have any experience with the Pro-line Road rage tires. I just ordered a set. I am hoping they are really good for on-road. I have read good about them for the Nitro Mt but not sure how they work for the savage.

Definitely better top end with the BigJoes. The acceleration is still really good. I plan on switching out the gears to get the torque a little better. I love my BigJoes. Pro-line makes 40series road tires too, so I keep a set with the Bigjoes on and another set of 40series with road tires on. Get them, you wont be sorry.

I have the Road Rage for my E-maxx. They look a little small with the Savage though. They work great for on-road in front of the house. I doubt they are good for racing though, too much slippage.

I have a set of Pro Line road rage... good for on- road... slapp them on and adjust my suspension really low... but I hardly use them.. I might sell them with aluminum wheels...

If you are talking about the Road Rage 40 series, they work well but they have a larger surface area and displace the weight and you get less traction to the ground. I recommend the regular size for street use, they handle the corners better.

Also if you are having probs with ballooning try rapping the inside of the tire with DuctTape, it turns it into a radial Tire.

Just start at side wall and go 1.5 turns with the tape, then go to the other side wall and over lap in the middle also 1.5 turns. You won't get the ballooning effect of bad handling.

Ram:

I know what you mean about the stripping. It makes it even worse when you forget they are left handed thread on one side and get out the air gun because you think the threads are stripped.

I did this on my first Savage:opps:

I'll have to try the duck tape idea. My Savage tires get about 9 inches, just driving down the street.
