tlr 22 5.0 got it second hand, slowly bringing it around, small issue with rebuilding shocks (to thick fluid i already know) my question is, jconcepts smoothie 2, alot of guys run them at the track, after a few nights the rear are showing almost like a ripple effect, and looks like they are thinning out, one guy told me last night on this high traction carpet track (soaked in traction compound) he can go
through 2x pairs easy, now my work schedule i dont have time to race i work weekends, mainly go so my son can get track time. I've checked camber and toe, which i need to change my pills slightly I've figured out, what other tire options for indoor carpet are worth while, i was in this hobby 20+ years ago and the issue wasn't present then

PAGING @DavidB1126 !!! 🤣
He races tlr too. I'm sure he can help you with this.
WELCOME TO RCTALK.COM!!!😎😁👍

You mentioned using smoothie slicks with compound. Is this a track that mandates slicks and prohibits using low pro pin or wedge tires? On carpet I use ProMotion viper mediums which is a cheap but good alternative to the Jconcepts fuzz bites. But since I guess your track mandates slicks? I really don't know. I use smoothie 2s at my local sealed clay (dirt) track and they can last about 5-8 race or practice days. I really never kept track, I just keep running them till the rubber actually rips apart and you can see the insert lol.

I remember watching one of the YouTubers, I think it was Dorky and 40 models and RC, he runs a B7 on carpet using slicks. Once I get home today I'll see if I can go back and watch some of his videos.

Just some other slick tires, Hot Race is releasing all new Slick tires in a few days. JConcepts came out with smoothie 3 slicks, only in blue and green compounds I think for now. ProMotion also has their own slicks too.

And 2 other brands but I personally don't like using them anymore is ProLine and AKA. Since Horizon took them over they ruined those brands over in terms of quality and performance.

honestly I'm unsure about strict rules on balds, they dont like my view anyways that if you need traction compound theres another issue with the car, and the compound eats the rubber on the tires, but the carpet is soaked with it, i will look up your recomendations @DavidB1126
I've been looking for 2.2" foam and can't find them.
Lightweight, loads of traction, should last a long time on a track. 🤷‍♀️
I can't help but think the fast tire wear is no coincidence. Why build a long lasting tire when you can sell 3 sets every race?
If you find some long lasting combos that still hook, pref without sauce, PLEASE post about it!!! 😎

Like DavidB1126 said, I can get at least a month(maybe longer) out of a set of slicks. But that is on a sealed clay track. I use a pin tire when I race on carpet. Carpet wears out the pin tires pretty fast, I'm only getting about 2 days out of a set of rears. I can get a little longer out of the fronts. The carpet seems to be more abrasive then a dirt track.

i went ahead and ordered tires and wheels from rawspeed, interestingly, i got a call they had sent the wrong wheels, called me right away and sent the ones i ordered, just out of that professionalism I'm going to give them a good try

I have a 4 wheel Electric Off Road car with 98mm X 48 mm (non foam) tread tires. I have upgraded the car to brushless and speed and performance really increased.:thumbs-up: Will I gain performance and handling with upgrade to tread tires with foam inserts? Is that upgrade worth it? I see tires on Amazon and Ebay that are 110 mm diameter and some 75 mm diameter but none close to OE tires at 98mm. Is a larger tire than 98mm better or the smaller tire better as an alternate.?

What is the truck? Are you crawling or running a track, trail? How fast? What surface.
I doubt I can answer not being into crawling but all that info will be helpful. 👍

I like how the tires in the pic look! 😎

I can tell you gwnerally that harder foams will get you more speed. Harder tires better longevity more speed too.
It will cost you some tire roll and some traction loss in turns would be my guess too tho.
MT use tires as part of the suspension and so is reasonable to expect subtantial changes with foam.
Have you got links to any products youbare thinking to try?
Maybe members can help with product suggests too. 😎

4pcs 1/10 Wheels and Tires with Lock Nuts Washers Wrench, 12mm Hex Hard Dish Wheel for Racing Off Road Buggy Truck Rock Crawler RC4WD Tamiya MST HSP CR12. The review's on these tires are good except for one on the rims. Also, they require glue to mount the tires on the rims. I'm looking for tires with already mounted on the rims.

"MT use tires as part of the suspension" What in MT?

I can't open that as a link. My phone has been having issues, might just be me.
Tire gluing seems like is far easier than a lot of ppl might have you beilieve. I recommend buying some CA glue and good applicators... give it a go!

MT= Monster Truck. 😎

Thanks for the tip.:thumbs-up: I'll look for a smaller tire with a rim. :thumbs-up:

I still recommend watching your temps as a good practice after tire changes. 😉

Share pics once you get them put on the truck!!! 😎
