The monster broke again... I am not sure if it is the rear end or the trans...:\ But one of them is massing up bad at first i though it was the rear end but now not for sure but i beleave it is. Earlier i had it out and the rear cva and everything leading up to the rear end was working what i thought was right, But the tires were not moving  So I took it in and did so investigating and thought that it could have been rear drive input cup screw cause it was loose... So i tighten it up. Put it back together and it still did not seam right so i took it back apart and split the rear end apart and every thing looks good but the grease looked really old and kinda dry. So what kind of grease should i put back in it? Should i just pull the trans part and check it out before it gets really warm and time to run it or what? Seam to be make what seam's like a lot of noise:\

White lithium automotive grease. Just follow the path of the drive train. If you spin the spur and the outputs on the tranny spin, you know it's not the tranny. If the driveshafts spin and the diffs are fine, it must be a hex or a pin on the stub shaft.

OK sounds like i got some looking to do.. do the always make a lot of noise like rattling and stuff like that it almost sounds like a dirt bike running?

OK thanks i will have to mess with it in the am. i was thinking about taking the trans apart and re greasing it just cause i got the truck used and don't know how long its been the truck is like three or four years old but don't know yet. what do you think a good ideal or not?

DO not grease inside the tranny. If you do, you stand a good chance of messing stuff up. Reason behind this is there is a one way bearing on the output drive gear in the transmission this OWB bearing allows you to coast when you let off the throttle. If you put oil or grease in the tranny it WILL find its way into the OWB and it will start slipping. When it starts slipping then the whole truck is no go.

sounds like you stripped a wheel. what rig is it? if you strip one, all the power will be sent to that one (path of least resistance) try holding one wheel and spinning the other by hand. if the driveline moves, switch around and hold the other.

Just want to give an update still have not put the monster back together yet. I need to go get me some LOCK TIGHT before i put it back together. Might make it to get some tomorrow. So when i get it back together i will update when i get get together. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR INPUTS :D

Not getting full power to the wheels

Something is not right with the monster still. I don't know what is going on with it but it is not get all the power to the wheels. It sounds like something is grinding or not make the contact that it needs. It is moving but still sounds like the gears are not making full contact with each other:\. It is not moving full speed the motor is ripping but it will not go very fast something is not right. PLEASE HELP:(

Is there a way to tell how tight it should be? I have already gone though the rear end and the drive train but have not found any thing going on in either one of them some one said it was a bad clutch? i know i am a newbie and dont need to be going broke buy stuff i dont need..:\

there is a bolt on it
and if its out too far it wont get a grip on the slipper clutch

first go to a field where the slipper clutch will not be needed tighten it all the way in and then let the car loose then loosen it litle by little untill it starts to get slower then tighten it some more untill looks normal runing

best advice i can give but wait for outhers incase I'm wrong

k with out the clutch wont the truck take off crazy.. and thanks for the help

its a slipper clutch behind the big spur gear when tightng it up it stops slipping which is good

slipper clutches are to protect the drivetrain

OK I got it so if i tighten up the spur and put pursuer on that slip clutch and it should take off and work right hopefully anyway right

k thanks for the help.

that did not help it at all it almost sounds like it is in the rear end but can't tell for sure  it is starting to make me mad i just don't get it

got a ideal!!!!!

I just thought of a good ideal.... I have been having problems with the monster not know what it is right......... So i thought that i would run it the other way around. I have been run it without the cva in the front of the truck and that's pretty much when this problem started... So sitting here thinking about it not knowing what it is thinking the rear end or the trans or maybe the clutch. Not sure witch one cause it dose not want to run full power, With the rear tires maybe I will try with the front tires and see what happens and if it keeps doing it then we will know that it is not the rear end. so i am going to work on putting it together running the front wheels and let you know what happens tomorrow.....

have you ever seen a civic try to launch off the line at the drag strip? fwd sucks. it may be ok for testing, but I'm pretty sure there are other ways to do it. fwd on a monster truck wont be very enjoyable.
