I have just found this guide see here

Has anyone done this?
I am about to try it on a set of Crime Fighter MT's on proline 23mm hex wheels for my truggy conversion.

Lots of people have. works very well. Tires dont ballon much at all.

It works exactly like it says.. Great mod to prevent your tires from ballooning, thus loosing surface area of the tire on the track..

Think that would work on my 33x12.50,s on my Chevy? hehe :jk:
I have heard it works very well. I might try it out on my Rc10 the tires I have for it usally grow a huge amount on take off

I did that on my lsp, here is a pic of what they do instead of balooning in the middle they baloon a bit on the outside...

i did it to my savages wheels. Now they dont balloon at all. It kinda sucks tho, because i always liked doing 2 wheels on the side and then have the other 2 wheels balloon. but who cares, the truck handles better now.

Asking the question a different way, Is tyre ballooning a problem?

I've got these Crimefighter MTs :boxing: & they seem to be made of the softest rubber (I'm used to buggy tyres) & once I glue them thats it, can't change it easily. They're quite expensive too!

Balooning causes loss of traction, which in turn causes loss of control. Its an easy upgrade that I do to all my tires now.

Yeah when the tires ballon its more hard to handle. It feels like the tires are on its tippy toes (If that make sence) I did it to my stock savy tires, and man what a differance.

with bowties (similar softness overall in the tire compared to the crimefighter MT) I would ballon on the straights and the truck would just flip over for no reason.....tape em and it sticks like glue........

I was beginning to think that the tyre ballooning might be quite cool!
But I've just fitted my shell, a Hotbodies LSP one and there isn't any clearance at full steering lock. I think I have to try to stop the ballooning so the body isn't ripped up! If it improves the handling as well then I'm going for the tape.
