I have head a few tips for better performance from your rc by doing things to the tires... ie: gluing the tires to the rims, balancing the tires, and taping the the tires to keep them from expanding during high RMP.

I understand how to glue the tires but I have no idea exactly how to tape the tires or balance the tires...

As far as taping the tires goes I would probably just take some heavy duty duck tape and make a wrap around the inside of the tire making sure it sick real well, maybe some of the Gorilla tape, not sure though because I have never done it personally, as for balancing the wheels they sale balancers but I think they are more for on road racing tires, but I am sure you could make something, like a stand with a couple bearings in it, the same size as your axle and run some threaded rod thru a hex and mount your wheel to it and spin it on the bearings then find the heavy side and add a little weight at a time till you get it balanced, maybe some sort of stick on weight but only a small piece at a time. Just a idea...
