ok i have stock chrome wheels for my tmaxx.... i want to paint them black but i have to un glue the tires from the rim....

is the a solvent or somthing or do i just get a wedge and break the seal...

Need sum help here

and what type of glue do you use to glue them back on????

Super glue?

thank you

In all honesty, it'll be easier to tape off the sidewalls of your tires. I absolutely hate trying to break a beat. Many times you just end up tearing the tire. However, if you are adventurous enough to tear away all 8 beads you will want to reglue with CA. "Super Glue" is CA glue so that'll work just fine.

What color of plastic is the wheel if its black you can use oven cleaner, the chrome will turn into liquid

Maybe do the oven cleaner thing, then rough them up a bit with sand paper, then tape them and paint them. Getting all 4 off the rim just to paint them is a huge pain. You can use debonder, but it takes a lot of time and still usually requires pulling and gently cutting with a knife to get the job done.

Use a q-tip to drop it on the bead and let it soak. Usually requires a few applications to get it to work down into the bead. Then lightly sanding the tire/rim where they make contact to remove any residual glue is usually required.

A typical medium thickness CA will work to put them back together:

I'd get 2 bottles of the debonder... it evaporates pretty quickly.

use greased lightning. its not as corrosive, but will take the chrome off. it will also soften up the glue, so they may come off. you may not have to paint them. the ones i took the chrome off of, was black plastic underneath.

What is the truck for bashing or looks? I took some rough sandpaper scuffed the rims threw on some primer and then hit it with the black!! No tape just sprayed all i do is bash so when the paint wears off like it will in time all i do is hit some more black on it....
