  1. Bashing
My 3.3 split the rod and broke the piston so its not worth fixing. So I'm torn between going the big block route with a Pico or putting a OS 21 in it. I just bash so I'm sure both will be great but whats everyones thoughts? Thanks

Very funny I have my Revo all rebuilt sitting in a tote waiting for me to make that very same decision, ultimately it is your call but if money is not an issue that OS .21 would be my choice.

I am realy leaning towards the Os, Just for the ease of drop in and go. Not that there is alot to do with the Picco. But then i could look the cheep route and use a 3.3. I am buying a Baja for spring. So decisions.

Os 18 tm on ebay.

If you can find one, great little engine. Very similar in power to the 3.3, but a smoother power curve and much wider and stable tuning window.

I have one in a drawer waiting for me to buy something to put it in... Ran it in my revo and my jato, but the jato is a crank case killer, so I shelved it.

I thought it was more powerful than the 3.3.....about the same though? I guess that's still cool, it's smaller and more reliable.

I found a few on ebay. But most are used. I am going to call the hobby shop i get mt stuff from and see what he has tomorrow. I like everything i have read on the OS engines. How much more power is the OS 21 then the 3.3. I have read about the same or a little more, Thanks

Maybe when comparing the 3.3 to the 18TM or 18TZ, but surely not the 3.3 compared to the 21TM?

I can't see anyone spending $300 on an engine that performs just as good as a $150 engine.

I had the 18TM and it would run neck and neck with the 3.3, but the 18TM would hold a tune much better/easier and was much more stable in general. The 18TM and 18TZ both pour the power on very linearly throughout the RPM range. The TRX3.3 is more 'peaky' with a very steep drop off once it peaks out. Kind of a "light switch" engine. Either on or off. Getting the 18TM at the time was $50 more for reliability but similar power output.

I am going to go grab another 3.3, I dont want to have to go through breaking in a OS 21 during the winter for the cost of it. Plus the 3.3's are cheep and I'm grabbing a Baja in the spring. So who knows i may not run the revo much when i get the Baja. Thanks for all the help.

looks like the only thing similar between my 18tz and a 3.3 is the price. all the os goodies, easy tune, easy start, steady idle and has alot more power. the 21tm's don't leave this one on the track. nows your chance to get something that will make you never go back. just my 2 cents

Yes i know but I'm going to run it this winter in the snow and cold weather. So why not run the cheep engine in bad conditions and i can always get an Os for the nice weather. I am not realy worried about the money. But if I'm going to abuse something let it be cheep.
