Has anyone found a way to run a BB header on a stock maxx and clear the shocktowers? Or not have to switch to a 4 shock setup

Nope you need to switch to a BB chassis. It is just not long enough in the rear to fit a big block in there.

is this for your flm chassis?? or a 4907 chassis
i used one from a tamiya tnx nitro truck it just clears the shocks

That is not a Big Block engine though. That is a Picco .26 Max Red Dot. The shortest bend header I know of it one made for a Savage.

Yea BB header but on a picco .26 have you tried the savage mount?

Like joey said, you need a BB chassis to install a BB eng. The tightest BB pipe you will find is a 86061 made for a savage. The picture shows this pipe installed in a BB eng, the chassis is 1 inch longer in the rear than a 4908/09 chassis would be, and it still would be a tight fit if i had a 8 shock set up.

I'm not wanting to run a BB, just a BB header. Already have a thunder chassis with monoblock. That's why I want a short chassis truck. I guess maybe I'll have to bend it like in the pic above

Here's my setup I want To on my 4910. tmaxx

The 86061 pipe is probably the tightest you will find.

I've got a ton of BB headers, and the 86061 header is about as tight a bend as you will find. With the stock short chassis you will have to butcher something to run a BB header.

Alright thanks. I'll give that one a try

I've actually found that a stock savage 4.6 header fits better and has more clearance than the ofna u shaped on a tmaxx. I'm running theTHS 1/8 scale savage pipe and header on my maxx now. I would send a pic but for some reason the system keeps telling me its an invalid file when i try to upload from tapatalk. Here is the link to the manifold i have.

Like I was saying the HPI Savage header is just about as tight as you will get for sure. What engine are you going to be putting it on? You might want to contact Racer1966 he makes a BB adapter for Traxxas exhaust engines. I did a write up on them, works perfect.

Yeah sorry joey i didnt realize that was a HPI part number. Also didnt start reading top of thread to realize you mentioned savy header. And +1 on the adaptor from racer1966. I got one from him for the picco on my maxx and it works perfect.

No worries man. If you hear the same thing from several sources it only adds validity. Yes the adapters are the stuff for sure!

That one looks like the bend is almost tighter than the one listed
Since its hard coated, think it will crack if I try to bend it?

I'll be running that picco RD In the picture above. The adaptor is in the pic too. Picked it up as soon as I got the engine last fall. :)

Yeah a hard coat does not like to bend much. I with I had a Maxx here with me I would do a couple trial fits for you. I think the Savage header may be your best bet unless you picked up a THS Maxx pipe. They work pretty decent on the Picco .26. I used one for a while before I went the BB route.
