i recently put a new ths exaust on my tmaxx and heard good things about them and like the look ofcourse and since i havent been able to run it yet since the weather I'm curious to know ur opinions on it.

There used to be an article out there that explained the different pipes and how they affect the low end and high end torque of the engines. The size and shape of a pipe than back pressure and how it affected the RPM to Torque curve.

The THS pipe is a single chamber exhaust pipe which does not limit the back pressure so think of it as a free flow exhaust system. It is like putting headers on a V8 with Cherry Bomb Glass packs. Increases the Horse power of the engine and changes the HP to Torque curve to a different RPM then the stock pipe will.

The Stock plastic pipe has 2 chambers to reduce noise this will hinder the engine from reaching RPMs faster and lowers the Horse Power by a little.

Joe I have read the same article as you did I think. Personally I like the THS on the T-Maxx or Revo. I have had both. I think the power curve is smoothed out a good bit and like the increased top end.

Mine was a major improvement over the stock plastic pipe, sounds better too. :)

You would think the Hard Coated pipe set would come with a Hard Coated header too but it does not & I cannot see spending the extra cash for one.

I have been happy with pipe set & snagged it for a great price to boot!

i got the polished one they are very nice and like i said i heard alot of good things about them...also heard lots of ppl talking about having to cut a hole in there chassis for it to fit which ummm when i put mine together did what nitro4910 did turn it so tip was facing out ha...how do they sound i heard one on a .28 mac star and wow it was a beastly sounding knowin it was bigger engine still sounded good

On My T-Maxx it also faced out. Just have to trim the body around it. Yeah they are really good pipes and have a nice sound to them as well. I had one made for the Savage too that I liked pretty well. For a "one size fits all" pipe they are pretty decent.

I love mine, it works well with a picco .26, but is now being used with a modded 18tm. I drilled new holes and clocked mine so it faces down but still over the edge of the chassis.

heres mine on my new 3.3 in the maxx now though lol

Man, don't mills/parts look great when they are clean and new! lol :D

Also I have a THS and have ran it on both the 3.3 and a Picco .26 and have noticed improvements over the stock resonator on both both mills.

Very clean lol about two months when starts gettin warmer it wont be haha

I agree I'm in the middle of my teardown, cleaning, and polishing. And like you I will much fun getting it dirty again! ;)

yup got all my stuff tore down cleaned now i jus sit and stare hahaha

The older THS pipe had the stinger in down position for the cutout in the old 4910 chassis, Traxxas got rid of the hole on the 4908/07 trucks
so they changed the pipe to sit with the stinger pointing out the side instead.

I know what you mean, both my trucks are down in pieces ATM while I make the needed parts to go back together with the Thunder chassis's I got.
Both still need cleaning & polishing so they'll look like $1,000,000 Bucks til they hit the dirt first time.

I figure I might as well get some nice shiny pics of them before they get grungy. :hehe:

Some parts porn for your enjoyment!

Throttle servo mounts & tank mounts, just need finish sanding & polishing.

If you polish them too much Rolex may get jealous... lol

Looks like a great start though. I really like your servo mounts with the blue washers.

The blue countersunk washers are from Ofna, #10344.

I made the servo mounts as the chassis in pic #2 did not come with them & UE no longer sells them.
I cut them out on my band-saw & finished them with a file to get them down to the shape I desired.
I an happy with the way they turned out, they still need finish sanding then polishing, they might as well look pretty as least once!:whhooo:

I have been thinking about scuffing all the aluminum with 1500/2000 grit to get a brushed/satin look out of it, both chassis braces
were run without a center skid so the bottoms are kinda beat but not too bad.

The brushed look would look really nice, but may make it difficult to clean with all the fine ridges and valleys.

I did not think of that, I would be willing to bet that black dirt I run in would be terrible pain in the rear to get it back out/off the chassis.

Here in North Texas we have a lot of black clay that just gets packed into every nook and cranny of my rig and then dries in there causing a royal pain in the rear!
