Throw more money at it, or cut my loses and buy a new one?

I'm debating if I should keep throwing money into the Vapor, upgrading more of the eggshell plastic parts with alloy parts and learning to drive better

The problem with the alloy upgrades is it moves the damage onto the diff cases and suspension holding brackets etc.

The plastic parts are cheap, but one particular part, the front C hub carriers are so weak they break hitting stones the size of golf balls. They super glue well, thankfully, at £6 a set and you break at least 1 every run of the buggy, is it worth it!?

I have conflicting information, some say it's based on a Hyper, some say it's based on a Losi 8ight. Without seeing the dimensions on parts I can't tell if the Losi or HoaBoa /Hong nor parts will fit. I'd certainly consider them, even if I had to upgrade a bunch at a time.

The other option is to pull the engine out of it and buy a race roller of something fairly decent. Don't think I could stretch to a Losi 8ight for example, think they go for around £400 if you are lucky.

Any opinions?

If you are having trouble keeping the Vapor in one piece...cut your losses IMHO. I run my Truggy quite a bit, and hardly ever break anything, even with my poor track driving skills! lol

Cut your losses and get a better quality rig. It would probably be easier to get more parts for and have better parts availability.

So the list at the moment would contain:

Losi 8ight or TEN-T
Associated Factory Team RC8T Truggy
HoBao Hyper ST Truggy (or Hyper buggy)
HPI Trophy 4.6 RTR Truggy or buggy
Traxxas JATO

Some are out of my budget though, the Losi 8 for example. Not all of the above are available readily without engine and radio. My engine is a re-branded Force .28 and running fine. The radio gear has 2x digital 10.2kg servo's in the mail, I'd like a 2.4Ghz Tx/Rx, but that can wait. So a non-RTR is probably best.

The Traxxas JATO is £300 RTR, meaning it would be well within budget if they sell a kit only version!

Any word on Kysoho models? They seem quite cheap, but that might be a bad thing.

This reminds me of something I should do when running the buggy. Define a course/track that has no hard obstacles to hit, or well known and avoidable hazards. Then go round and round it hopefully getting faster and faster. Normally I drive around randomly and that leads to, "Whoops, that's not going to work... too late... broken stuff."

Keep in mind that Jato's are 2wd. Very squirrelly handling. Kyosho is a brand that has been around for years and have a great reputation for putting out high quality products.

I'd go with the Associated RC8T. I've had really good luck with my RC18's.
