I have a Revo I purchased back in 2005 with the 2.5R engine on it... it's been a lot of fun all these years.

But, last sunday, while running it around the yard with my son's brushed Stampede, I did a full-throttle run into a utility pole.

After a bit of repair work, I went to test it out. Turned on the Tx and Rx, and the throttle servo went to full-braking position and stayed there. Took the servo out, and while the Tx/Rx is on, it tries to turn all the way in one direction. I can turn it all the way back around when it is off, but as soon as it's turned on, it goes back. I swapped my steering and throttle servo connectors in the Rx, and the steering will move back-and-forth with the trigger just fine, but the throttle servo just stays all the way wound up. This tells me that the Rx is fine, but the servo is bad.

Anything else I should check, before dropping $25 on a 2055 servo?

Thanks the help!

Yeah, check for a better servo, the 2055 is a POS.
You could get a 2070 or 2075 for less than that on ebay, or shop around for something aftermarket. Don't go overkill on torque though, unless you plan on getting a stronger failsafe spring.

Does your truck have optidrive? I would bypass it if it does.

I do have opti drive... by "bypassing" it, you mean plugging the throttle directly into the Rx? What advantages does this have?

I would try that first, but a new servo is always a good idea. The optidrive prevents you from shifting into reverse while going forward. It also has a low voltage failsafe in it. If your battery is fully charged and in good condition then there's a chance the opti junk is acting up. The optidrive is well known for causing trouble.

I ended up going to the local hobby shop and buying a $25 2056 servo - basically the waterproof version of my 2055. I could have got a better one online, for the same price, BUT, buy the time I pay for shipping it was much cheaper to make a trip into Tulsa. It's all operational now, lets just hope I can keep it from hitting something that hard again.
