when my truck is not running my throttle linkage at WOT looks like this:

this is at WOT while running

i thought my problem was because i was running w/ 19t clutch bell and a 70t spur. but since i put my 20t CB back on it still gets stuck on my spur. it actually gets stuck on spur because the throttle post rotates too far. i dont understand why this would happen only when my truck is running. i went through a set of batteries trying to replicate this while the truck is off. grinded down a spur because of this. i even bent the linkage (as you can see) to try and get it further away from the spur. any help would be appretiated!

The point where the carb linkage is connected should be pointed toward the back of the truck. Undo the screw, pull it off and rotate it. Your linkages will need to be adjusted afterward.

Right... your linkage arm looks like it's in a very wrong position for WOT.

Make it look like this.

The air filter's in the way, but you should get the point. Opening the throttle pulls the linkage forward at the servo for reference.

Hope that helps.

If you ask me (which in a round about way you have), I would say that you have your post for the pivot point mounted too far forward on the chassis.

I would seriously consider flipping the carb and using a different set up for that slide carb. The way it is set up right now, you are asking for serious trauma to that engine and linkage when that spur gear connects.

well i fixed it, i think. its a little late to run it right now. like ya'll said, i just had adjust my linkage a bit. but i'm still wondering how the linkage was getting stuck on the spur only when the truck was running. oh well, thanks for all of the replies!!!

Spur gears have a natural tendancy to wobble. Odds are that you did not notice that the linkage was close while the engine was not running, but when you fired up the engine and the spur started to rotate...viola, the spur made contact.
