Thinking about going electric ...

Well since my nitros seem to really be nothing but trouble lately, I'm thinking of selling both my SS and my Supernitro (which i loved dearly untill the trans problem that i can't figure out). I am thinking of going to a TC3 and a novak brushless setup. Does anyone here know anything really about them , like runtimes and speed compared to a nitro or anything like that ?

Good and bad to both. Electric is cheaper for a kit and such. After paying for batteries, charger and all that stuff you'll spend almost the same minus feul it seems to me but this is just what I think. Well lets see your out bashing. Your battery packs are dumped and your sitting there watching a guy just refuel his nitro and you'll feal the slap in the face. When your out running and your car comes by flying silently, a Nitro will roar by you and you will that "Thump!" as my dad calls it saying hey look, this is no orginary RC and hell no it's not from radio shack! But then again, when a nitro engine burns up and runs hot you can laugh spray your motor with some co2 and make it run even faster. Then again as your battery packs start to wear downt he less and less power you get. There are alot of positives and negitive to each side. Personally I think you should take a break for a week without touch, looking, or smelling involving Nitro(including this forum) and see if your ideas may change once you start missing that noise we all love so much.

i will still have one nitro car (my truck). and I've been very aware of the battery times which really were my main reason to get into nitro. I'm really going to have to think abuot it here and have a nice long talk with the guys at the hobby shop back home

Like I said , maybe a break will make you come to your conclusion easier. I wanna stomp my skateboard within 2 hours everytime i step on it so I lock it up for a day or two untill i wanna skate again.

I got into R/Cing first w/ electric. I got sick of the recharging, and the 10 min run times. Electric is still fun and involves less cleaning. Now I got a nitro, and it's more fun. Feels more like a real car w/ a cluctch, fuel line, brakes, and smog. Also, for electric, u can race indoors which is nice.

Well I just bought an electric tc3. Have yet to receive it. But from the little research that I did on the electric tc3 and all the electronics needed, it seems like it costs the same if not more for a good setup compared to nitro.

Electric is cheaper in the long run but more expensive to start out in than nitro I think.If you get 5 or 6 packs you'll be able to run all day and not worry about having to wait for the packs to charge.The packs will also last alot longer than a gallon of nitro and they can be used over and over again.I read somewhere that the higher end packs can be charged as much as 40 times before they loose their punch and even after that they can still be used for bashing.Nitros require alot or maintianance and you have to keep buying fuel and clutch's, piston/sleeves, and glowplugs.With electric all you have to buy is some 3$ brush's to rebuild the motor.I too have been messing around with electrics and their alot of fun but I still love my nitro stuff.

i think I'm going to sell my SS and get an electric TC3 and see how i like that. i really do like nitro way to much to go back to electric, i think i am just frustrated at the broken parts

I have both. If you like to go out to a field and bash around, then stay Nitro. If you want to race at a local track, go electric. Both cost around the same long term, and both have the same amouont of broken parts.

Has the posiblity of multiple sets of batteries and a field charger crossed your mind?

I dunno....I didnt know of this field charger you speak of. Please enlighten me. Does it hook up to your car or something?

Most chargers come with a DC option, big alligator clips to hook up to a car battery. usually there is a plug in the back to plug the adapter into.

Exactly. I have one but I also have 10 sets of batteries too.

DAmn I thought all chargers had to be 120 AC. Well that makes things alot better than. I perfer just filling up nitro then swaping and charging batteries alot, but then again I like how electrics dont ahve to start up or be tuned, etc.

yeah , the field charger would be good, being that ill finally have my car around this summer (I'm at college and i havent been able to bring it with me yet, but this may I'm moving out here with it) and i have the dynamite vision peak 2 and it does have the alli clips on it, i figure that and some reedy x rated packs would do me well for a while.
