The Titanic and Education

I've always wondered why they felt the need to teach generations after generations of school children about the Titanic in the schools curriculum.

Why is it so important that all these generations be told about this.

Is it narrative control? What are your thoughts?

I don't know what the adults say but from my perspective as a kid, i would say that it might show why we always have so much safety on modern boats and planes and what would happen if we didnt. That's my best guess

Apparently, many of the lessons learned at great cost , were not paid heed to. The Titan, of OceanGate is just the latest example.

At it's time, the Titanic was an engineering marvel. And a huge catastrophic event when it sank. It's part of history and an important lesson can be learned from it. Don't doubt the power of mother nature

I always wanted to see a remake where the boat didn't sink and everyone just carried on.

They actually had a big Titanic exhibit in Seattle a few months ago, but I didn't get to go see it.

I see that there are a few who choose not to learn from history... which is sad, but clearly a proportion of today's society.

I agree, and that was my point exactly. The failure to learn from history, American or otherwise (Titanic sailed under the British flag) because of, or in the pursuit of profit, while disregarding history and science, is the fool's errand. Sadly, again, at the cost of lives.

But this time we can build it out of carbon fiber and platinum! We can make it solar powered and brushless!!!
I can even think of a bunch of rich ppl we can put on it for its 'test ride'.
