shoot.. look at this if your still mad to not have your SS that you preordered.. hows this to kick you in the ass...

https://www.rcnitrotalk.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7040

note how the SS owners got screwed on a better fuel tank, better wheel hexes, better clutch.. aka 3 shoe.. I'm ticked to have seen it posted on a forum even before any owners got the majority of the SS out in shipment #1.. due end of the week, to see they already have something bigger badder than the SS kit..

Maybe I'll wait until I see what the new kit has before I commit myself, lol. Maybe all that stuff comes with the SS kit.

oh man, you just made my choices more difficult.

Yea, Maybe I'll get the Savage 25 and take it all apart and built it back. Would that make it a kit?:shhh:

tower hobbies say this for the savage now "Invoiced, Processing in Warehouse"
so maybe i will get one shiped to me tommorw! what is up with this savage 25 rtr and with a new fuel tank... they should of gave the savage ss one to...lol well that is all

i found this at hpiracing.com
"UPDATE 8-27-03

The SS kits arrived and were shipped out to our distributors, they should start arriving in hobby shops this week.

All of the SS kits will have updated wheel hex hubs that will grab the wheel better to help prevent stripping the wheels. It is still critical to check the wheel nuts frequently on a big nitro truck like the Savage."

I hope that u can up grade to that fuel tank with the back pick-up.

Got My SS!

Well I've had mine since last Friday. My LHS got in 4 and they hadn't even unpacked them from the shipping boxes when I showed up.

All I can say is DAMN! Nice truck! My Bro-in-law has the Sav 21. I went goo goo for that one. This SS is the poo! Take a big whiff!

When they say kit they mean kit. Bags and bags of parts! They are nice though and prebuild the engine, tranny and differentials for you. Just lube the diffs. I will say it took me (a first time kitter) about 12-14 hours to put it together. Of course I forgot to add the reverse module in before I mounted the tranny and engine (duh) so that set me back a bit.

The engine is SWEET! the machined heat sink it a vast improvement over the .21 engine. I went ahead and added a roto-start to it (more on that later). The dogbones are indeed chrome steel. Upper arms are still adjustable. The exhaust pipe is HUGE and sounds very 'throaty' when running. The tank is the same as the Sav 21. Building it was fun although the directions were clear enough, there are a few tech tips that could be added to save you some headaches.

So now AFTER I got it built:

I couldn't wait to crank this beast up. The roto start came in extremely handy. I would have hated to try and hand start it on the first try. I will say however that if you do use a roto-start to be VERY gentle with it when breaking in the engine. I snapped the one-way bearing on the flywheel after a couple of starts. luckily my BIL had a spare on an old engine. After some inital settings and tweaks we got it running pretty well. Gonna run it rich for a while though. I will say the gas tank issue is a major headache. There is so much power and torque in the SS that all the gas shifts to the back of the tank and if you are running low on fuel it tends to sputter and quit. Until I can get the newer tank I'm gonna put some rubber grommits on the rear tanks post to force the tank to lean toward the front to reduce the torgue effect on the fuel.

I will say the SS has power and more power. I installed the 15T bell as I don't track race. It's almost too much power (right). I've had it ride several dozen feet with the front weels barely on the ground. Imagine the 18T bell...

All in all I'm EXTREMELY happy with the SS. Now that the Sav 25 has been announced (pisses me off) I wondered if I bought too soon... and honestly if the 3 shoe clutch and the new tank are the 'big differences' I'm glad I got the SS. To me the stronger dogbones were important.

One thing I wish they would change is to make the wheel alignment adjustments easier (like the upper arms). I know I can upgrade, but it would make life so much easier.

I know what you mean. My lhs owner said "wow, look at all those parts" This is my fist kit also. I haven't even started it yet (don't ask). I plan on doing the diff upgrade before starting on it.:jester:

hey i got my savage ss yesterday... i am really happy i am allmost ready to mount the motor. It feels as if i am going to fast i guess, i mean a kit can be done in 2 days?well i have to go to school see ya
Doug

I broke it in today... also with breaking it in i strpied my break hub(i think that is what it is called) so i went to the lhs they dont have one but one is on its way. well i fixed it for now. boy is it loud, i think this hobby could make me lose my hearing or this i have to tune it but right now... boy is it slow

I got my ss wednesday, worked on it for a couple hours and only have a couple hours left, really easy to assemble, they really take it easy on you by pre assembling the diffs and tranny! my brother just bought the new T-MAXX and it really inpressed me being an origanal T-MAXX owner,I think hes scared of the new savage though,he went out and bought RPM arms,BIG BORE shocks and a tuned pipe when he saw my savage ss!there will be a bashing video coming soon!
