A new mechanical keyboard with magnetic "hall effect" switches. This is to replace my old worn-out board with cherry reds.

It just showed up and I'm using it right now to type this. Let me tell ya....she feels and sounds SO GOOD.

I hear it's amazing for gaming but I don't do much of that anymore and don't really care. Just typing all day for work. Right out of the box I bested my wpm by 5. Went from 127 to 132 wpm while testing it out in Monkeytype.

Magnets! Which model did you get?

I’ve been reeeeeeally slack about posting in this thread for about the past two weeks. Would've been excessive lol…😅

Had to share this though, at least.. Got an absolutely SMOKIN’ deal on it, and there’s more in route as we speak.. 🤘

Aula Win60 HE. It’s a clone of a much more expensive board. I just wanted to try it out to see if I liked the magnetic switches and boy do I lol.

I’ve always run a 68% board and tried 60 this go around. There’s a chance I may send it back for a 68. I was missing my delete key and arrows while working today. Really never realized I use them so often until they weren’t there 🤣

Here are my stats and it looks like I lied...131, not 132 wpm. Oops...

@81exige Do you find yourself slowing down the longer you type? I always feel like I get "in a groove" when doing the longer tests and expect higher numbers than what I actually turn out. It's weird and demoralizing lol.

oh I feel the same, for the first 20 seconds or so I'd be super locked in, but then my typing speed begins to peel off since my fingers just can't keep up with my reading speed anymore

You aren’t wrong lol

It’s all about finding the tone of chattering teeth that appeals to you the most.
None of them appeal to me, they actually drive me crazy. To the point that I ban them here at the office. LOL

lol oh wow. That's wild.

I feel that way about tactile switches that produce a loud click. They're also miserable to type on IMO.

I would have to find a new office lol. I can barely type on a membrane keyboard.

The silly modern day open collaborative office space doesn't help any. You're trying to focus on troubleshooting an issue, and five feet away it sounds like someone popping bubble gum at 131wpm. Our offices are also an acoustic nightmare, as every panel is a reflective surface, nothing whatsoever to absorb sound.

ah yeah. I could see the cold modern, hard everything environment adding to the issue. I work from home, but when I do go into the office I'm in antiquated cold war era government buildings. The nicotine on the walls from 1960 is enough to absorb a few clickity clacks.
