well the engine came in yesterday... it looks way better in person then it does in pictures of it.... it also looks way more massive than any other bb engine that i have ever had.... but i got the Duratrax Super starter on it and put the flywheel on this morning... so tonight i will put the rest of the clutch components on it and drop it into the savage and hook everything up... hopefully i will get to break it in tomarrow so i will let yo guys know how everything goes. i can't wait to hear what it will sound like with my tsais hard anodized race pipe....

hopefully the engine will produce some :OMG: jaw dropping performance

good luck. how hard is it to turn over? a mill that big is prolly gonna be a tough one..

well as i hoped for jaw dropping performance the OS MAX 30VG does exactly that... I'm still in the breakin stage with only 4 tanks through the truck and it is showing incredable strengh and power... i was really supprised... i never grabbed more than half throttle. hopefully if I'm out of school tomarrow ill finish up the break-in process and see what this engine can really do... hopefully it will perform flawlessly.... oh i started up just with less than 5 seconds on the rotostart... so starting was easy, running was easy, so far everything has been easy with this engine... ill let you guys know how things go as more tanks get ran through the engine

ya they are killers mills from what iv seen

seen one on a dyno man thing was a monster the dyno was a 10 pound one so there was some pull on the mill.. but still 10 pounds is a truck..

well hopefully the snow will melt and refreeze over night so i can't go to school tomarrow... i want to run the truck some more... i know you guys are thinking OMG is he running that new mill out in snow... actually I'm not i have a really big garage and a space heater... i heated the garage to almost 60 degrees with it only being 35ish outside... hopefully i can run some more tomarrow to get it fully broke in..

well I'm going to try to get the engine broken in the rest of the way tomarrow. if yours wheelid in 2nd gear i wonder what mine will do in 3rd with the savage......

I too was impressed when I unboxed that beast for my CRT. It is very hard to turn over by hand in fact like you guys said, you can't get it to turn all the way with the plug installed. Because of a broken leg and temps outside I have not been able to fire mine up yet. I look forward to your test results. I bought the non pullstart version and will start it with an Ofna chrome top box. Good luck man.

Tom

they say that where i live the temps are supposed to be in the mid 50's tomarrow. can anybody say gettin that O.S. 30VG fully broken and get it tuned up good.... i so can't wait for tomarrow because tomarrow is my 18th birthday.... woot woot lets celebrate and go buy a lotto ticket who knows maybe ill win millions... thats wishful thinking... well anyways better get to bed and have dreams about getting the engine fully broke in and getting through the night and party tomarrow..... is it just me or are the times and days when we post messed up because i am posting this at about 11:40 and it says that I'm posing at 4:38 something in the morning.... wow that could be trippie... time travel.... lolol

well thats good to know but i never said that it was hard to start i just said that it was hard to turn over by hand... with the rotostart my engine started in less than 5 seconds on the first time i started it.... so i dont think starting will be an issue. WELL TODAY IS MY BDAY I AM 18 YEARS OLD WOOO HOOO
dang i just realized that I'm gettin old. ohh well....

Dude, enjoy 18... it does not last long... and you are by no means old. Take care dude, and happy bday

Tom

i just turned 19... its old by young standards... you start to feel the pressure to live a real life

well over the weekend i was able to get the os30vg completely broken and running at near ideal temps was running about 230 but probably not gonna touch the needle until i go to practice down at the track before race day cause it will probably be alittle warmer were i race.. bout 45 mins away and down a big mountain... but anyways i got it broken in and was running it pretty good. has no problems with bringing the front wheels up. it also has alot of power even after the peak at around 28000 rpm it still gets er' done.. and i tested out to see really how much power it had i drove the savage up a 15ft loose dirt pile that had around a 60 degree slope. it got allthe way to the top so i believe it can tackle anything... can't wait to get the 3 speed adjusted perfect to see really how fast it can get my savage. but I'm pretty much all set for race day on sat.. what would be the best way to get the savage cleaned up.. its got a little bit of stuck on dirt.. is there any kind of spray that will break down the dirt then i will take an air compressor and blow off the dirt and left over cleaner.. then coat with wd40 or something to keep dirt off then let that soak for a lil bit and blow off the excess... it anybody knows any good solvents that clean but desnt hurt the truck in any way just let me know.... O.S. 30 VG is definately a beast in my book.. has no problems getting started and havent had any problems running..

does anybody on this forum even ever clean their can cause nobody answered my question.. thats gotta be pretty bad that everyone here runs dirty cars all the time.. not too good for the cars either.. but i think poeple do clean their cars nobody didnt see that my thread had a second page or soemething.. but i would just like to know what i could spray that will get the truck superclean without damaging anything... thanks

eek... such attitude. take it apart. thats the best way to clean it. compressed air is another simple way of getting alot of the chunks. when i have my revo all apart i use simple green - works amazing. i hear greased lightning is pretty good... :eyes:

Hey dude it's a Savage.....
Nobody takes them apart, cause they don't break. :)

I usually blow mine off with the air compressor.
If I take it apart, I spray the parts with WD40 and then blow them off. That works great, but I wouldn't use it while the truck was together.
I'd be scared of messing up the radio equipment.
