This is one part of my job that I generally hate doing, but I love the results when it's finished. A friend and I worked last night to clean up this mess that's grown to be the 800lbs gorilla in the room over the years, along with labeling everything with ANSI labels. I fabbed up mounts for the cable management on the left side that I had my boss order for us, then it was just a matter of diving in and getting it done. Oh yeah, we couldn't disconnect any of it either. :D

It's still not done (some things will require another maintenance window where we can actually take things down, as there are patches that are severely entangled), but it's a lot better than it was.

All the extra patch cable had been shoved into the trays over the years, not good for the fiber at all to put those severe kinks in it

We had some high tech cable management buried in there also :hehe:

Hella clean up dude! Dont know what any of that stuff is but its cool looking lol.

It's a pain trying to do network maintenance without taking anything down. Got the t-shirt for that. I feel your pain.

Flock that sheet!!! I can gaurantee you that I would've lost my mind and had multiple expletive filled rants while doing that. I don't like running the wires to my TV and all I have is a cable/DVR box and PS3 running HDMI, along with a Wii and Xbox 360 running component cables....hell, I hate changing servos because I have to run the wire.

I can work with a mess of wires but I hate when they or not labeled! Good job getting that labeled and cleaned up!

Thanks guys, I don't really enjoy the tedious, nerve wracking stuff much either. But it sure makes our lives easier moving forward though, so it's worth it in the end. The labeling was more of a PITA than anything else if you ask me.

Thanks Lloyd, those are the patch panels for connecting into our fiber optic backbone.
