This is one part of my job that I generally hate doing, but I love the results when it's finished. A friend and I worked last night to clean up this mess that's grown to be the 800lbs gorilla in the room over the years, along with labeling everything with ANSI labels. I fabbed up mounts for the cable management on the left side that I had my boss order for us, then it was just a matter of diving in and getting it done. Oh yeah, we couldn't disconnect any of it either.
It's still not done (some things will require another maintenance window where we can actually take things down, as there are patches that are severely entangled), but it's a lot better than it was.
All the extra patch cable had been shoved into the trays over the years, not good for the fiber at all to put those severe kinks in it
We had some high tech cable management buried in there also
This is all the extra cabling once pulled out
All tucked in...
And buttoned up...
