it looks like a male american toad. they are eating machines. what kind of lizard do you have. even though it isnt good to mix different reptiles i just want to know. becareful if you lizard is small enough the toad will try to eat it. you should keep him in a different tank tank it may have harmful parasites that can get to your lizard and kill it. do you see these kinds of toads in your yard around this time of year? if you do just let it go or wait until spring. if you keep it their basic care is an 85 degree tank a 10 gallon is good a shallow water bowl about the same height of the toad maybe a bit less. they arent the best swimmers. they eat crickets about 15 a day. you can use soil with no fertilizer in it as a substrate. they like to burrow. this just about all i know about this toad.

dannyd - I have him in a 30 gal hex with a green anole. the anole stays up top the frog is on the bottom and he has a small tank to sit in and he has diggin stuff.

RushRC - just watch them around feeding time. the toad may end up going after your anole. but other then that they both have similar requirents.

Just a thought. Do you happen to have a clean-out in your lawn or somewhere else in your yard before your house sewer line enters the main line? I have one in my yard that is buried but is in a box with a cover. The last time I opened the cover there must have been 4 or 5 toads in the box. If your line plug is loose, perhaps a toad pushed it off and got inside the line.

I found an alligator struggiling to get OUT of a sewer drain here in Houston about three months ago.

granted, the ARE traps and other devices to keep critters out of your throne there is still the possibility. I would be far more inclined to see robMob's theroy tho. if you have sewage it would be harder to get up the pipes. If the frog DID climb/swim the line you probably would have noticed other debris in the john with it... either way, it was an odd event. You should take a picture of the frog to remeber it after his time is at an end lol.

Yeah, I was just about to say that that is a toad. Toads typically are not around or in water, so I think he either just fell in the toilet from somewhere else in your house or maybe got in through a breather pipe.

maybe it formed from a tadpole..my LFS keeps the tadpoles and goldfish in the same tank and when i went for feeders the guy gave me a tadpole for some retarded reason and my oscars just couldn't chew the thing.after about an hour of my oscar trying to gulp it i decided to flush, needless to say i has to do a triple flush before he was gone. so Bruce please send my reptile back!LOL
