You know, I love r/c cars to death, but I really think i'm growing out of it. I've found once a new quarter of college starts, I concentrate my life around it. I have no time to socialize, or run the r/c cars, or even work on the r/c cars. I just try to keep as much focus as I can on my homework. So i'm thinking I will be quitting by this summer. I have one project car to build for a contest, but once that's done with, i'll probably just store all my cars and just concentrate money on other interests..

I'd really like to fix up the 1:1. My dad's letting me lower my car and get some rims. I know it'll cost money, but i'd like to do a real nice street/track setup with just a nice suspension. I've got it priced in the $1700 range. Then once that's done, i'd love to re-do my sound system in the car. I've got a nice one right now, but i'm growing out of it and need something better. If I do put in all new stuff, i'd have to get good stuff, which could easily cost a good $2000 so i dunno.

Plus, i'd like to get back into flying r/c planes. Since my dad built his new plane, it's been really hard to keep on track for my project car. I keep looking at electric park fliers, and mini helicopters, and keep telling myself to at least finish the project before i start buying something else. Plus, i'd really like to somehow spark some interest in myself for competitive pattern flying. My dad bought me a $1300 2 meter pattern airplane, and i've only flown it maybe 15 times. Hell, i flew less than 10x last year and my dad paid a boatload of money for club dues and AMA memberships.

Anyhoo, I know i've made one or two threads saying the same thing, but I really think this's the end for me for awhile. I haven't ran my ntc3 for a good 2 months, and before that it was around 3 or 4 months, and god knows when the savage was last running, i think we're close to a year of it sitting around broke. I've got a new Wasp .28, but i can't even get excited enough to install it. 6 months ago, i'd of had it installed, broken-in, and had many bashing tanks already through. Plus i'd be ranting and raving about it being awesome. I tell you it's just not the same. Maybe it's me growing up, or it's the medication, but I don't think i'm gonna last much longer with these cars. And to be honest, I am starting to look forward to that day :(

Sounds like you need a break.

It might just be the meds talking to you. Judging by the info you've provided on this site, I know you're into it big time. You really seem to know your stuff. Whatever you do, don't sell anything. If you take a break from it for a while, the day will come when you crave it again. Getting started from scratch might now seem appealing then, so hang onto what you have till the time comes to get back into it.
I've had my airplanes and heli on hold for over a year, just running the MT for now. I've sold several of them, but still have the the heli and a few planes, plus the kit for an 81" Cessna. The kit keeps calling to me every time I see it, and I won't part with it because I like knowing it's there when that craving returns.

you're just busy bro... we all know what that feels like. The endless list of things to do.. it's kinda depressing. Feels like you don't have time to live. Like Rolex said, don't sell anything. If you need to put it away for a while and concentrate on more important things then by all means do it. It's just a hobby, you'll have time again someday. Take care of the important stuff, some of us made the mistake of not. Take my word for it.

Sometimes breaks can last years. I took a 15 year break from R/C back when I moved out of my Dads, bought a house, and got married. Just didn't have the time or money so I lost interest. Now I need the time and money is not an issue so interest in R/C was re-ignited. It will happen to you as well I bet. Just like R/C planes.

Yeah, well i'll probably buy a few things for the cars to get them in the best condition I can, then store them away until my interests come back. Just hope the receiver battery packs don't go out on me...lol

But yeah, I think flying is probably gonna be my thing this summer. We're going flying tomorrow or the day after, although my dad hasn't brought out the planes to be charged, so we'll see. And my dad bought me a 40 size 3D ARF that I hope I can con him into finishing sometime before summer.

I'm starting to think all I need to keep interest in planes is to just have something new every now and then. That's the way it was for the first few years of flying. But then again, I was learning, compared to now where i just fly.

I'm back in myself, hell I'm 31. I have a three year daughter and I travel for my job quite extensively. I've seen your posts, and you have quite an interest in the hobby as well as the knowledge to help others. Your in a very busy time of your life, school takes a lot of time and devotion. So don't spread yourself thin and don't do something just to say your doing it. If it's not fun anymore, step back and take a break. Concentrate on school and do something else to pass the time for a while. R/C cars aren't going away by any means, so maybe in a couple months, years, whatever you'll jump right back in where you left off. Good luck on your decision.

I'm going through the same issues about how interested I am in this hobby. I just bought an HPI micro rs4 to keep my interest this winter but that has not worked for me. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet... Don't be afraid to sell your rides if you need the money for your 1:1 car. You can always buy more later. You can't buy time with your dad. I would spend your time flying with your dad this summer and enjoy the time you have with him. And if your interests for rides sparks again, you can buy the latest and greatest rides available. Enjoy flying this summer and maybe I'll see you on the fliers forums.

Scott.

Hi how old are you, I'm 30 w/ two kids and married eight years, I've been doing this for five years anything from rs4 cars to my current maxx, savage, and LST, sometimes i'll let it go for a couple of months but thats it, mr and my son go out and it gets your mind off things and lets you loose, but if you're in school thats whats important, just dont sell anything because I've done it and kicked myself for it! good luck

SELL-OUT.....you don't deserve your cars....so I'll just give them a good home where they can run and be free....for me that is....LOL......you need a break that's all.....I'm getting frustrated w/ stuff lately too....I'm takin a week off.....but I just got home from getting a mini-t....DAMN!....oh well I guess I MUST play w/ it now...in the mornning...

Maybe Kwong just knows it all and is no longer interested because he's mastered the hobby. Or maybe he's just grown tired of sucking FastEddy's peepee. Either way, I just say "Later, you fiddlesticking zipper-head"

lol, well I put together most of the savage. I installed the Wasp .28. Now, I just need a few screws and a rear driveshaft. I removed almost all the truckzilla parts except for the heavy duty dogbones, i'll pull those out sometime. As soon as I get a new engine, i'll be selling the kit. So look for it on the for sale section, i'm probably gonna sell if for pretty cheap.

Pulled the sleeves out on the novarossi and o.s. I found. I'll be sending those off to OSRocket to get the sleeves resized. I'm gonna send out my Lynx 3D radio to Hitec for warranty work. Then all that's left is my hotbodies .46 engine to be replaced with a new one.

Probably next weekend i'll make another trip to the hobby shop to get the few remaining items.

It's nice to have both r/c's in running order. I almost felt like breaking in the Wasp .28, but i don't have the time this weekend. I'll probably do it sometime during the summer.

BTW, totally off topic, but me and my family went to Olive Garden today. That poop was so good. I had like 6 or 7 breadsticks, a Fettuccini Alfredo and about 1 and a half glasses of coke.. I went in there starving and came out so FULL. It was nice to have a SUPER good meal.

Kwong slow doen. Start an engine, oncwe you get the smell of nitro back, you will once again be hooked.

lol, well i'll run them every now and then, but for now they're getting any maintenance done, then storage

but don't worry, i'll still post..haha

edit: also, I was thinking maybe for the summer, I could organize a west coast bash over the weekend in cali. It could be pretty fun. Do the cars most of the time, then maybe I could bring my trainer and find a field to fly at and take up a few people on the buddy cord. I could bring the laptop and let people play with real flight. Could be something fun.

I find myself in that dry spell due to not running enough or the repair bills just add up. I do know that for me jumping my rides are always fun. I haven't mastered the back or the front flip but I will. It is also kinda boring if you are bashing alone. Luckily I have my Brother in law. I am waiting to get my Savage built up and then I will try that sucka out.

Kwong2001, I hear ya. Just take a break from them. I am sure that you will find yourself wanting to run your rides. I did. I was working on my integra and got frustraded with the installation of the rebuilt head that I ended up running my NTC3. IT was great and cleared my head up.

Hope you stay.

Jon
