Your supposed to use a 4 channel stick radio, Tamiya recommends Futaba 4ch Attack radio, that comes with one of the guides, but to get the other guide it comes with a Multi function unit which is $200.

This is correct.there is a template that comes with the kit too make the adaptor that fits a two stick radio..So you can shift gears 1,2,3.and reverse.As well as use the 4WS

You have the left stick that you shift with..Your right stick does your steering and your RWD steering along with your FWD and REV.

I got you all pegged..

I have 3 storms..none are fully assembled since I am uprgading them to Pro. One SUT PRO NEVER had anything installed. SUT CE that has not made it out of the box since I got it. MP777 SP1 that I cleaned and stripped of all electronics... an OS18TM I got but Waiting on the revo to get here. As well as my sons Mini T in pieces.... This time of the year I usually get them nice and clean and ready to use when weather allows.
