Soooo...

When I woke up my uncle offered to bring me to my LHS to get some parts to fix my wobble wheels. I picked up some HPI 14mm hexes and got some HPI rims with some Pro-Line Crime Fighters. I also had to pick up some CVD ends since the guy who previously owned the Savage drilled the hole to make it bigger. So after I put those on, I went to Best Buy because I had dropped my camera. I picked up a Canon Powershot A950IS. After, my brother offered to bring to the park, I think because he was leaving for Sacramento and coming back Monday. So before we got there we went by my LHS again to pick up a nut (Lol) for my springs and some fuel. After I tightened my slipper screw (Which was loosening), I started it up and the screw went loose again. This happened many times until we went back to the LHS one more time to pick up some lock nuts and some loctite. Then the fun started. The car flipped lots of times when I punched the brakes or when we took some sharp turns while throttling. So the engine dies out and when I went to go grab it, I noticed the CB was still spinning. Once it stopped, I noticed this. THE CB WAS COMPLETELY STRIPPED! And here is where it ended =(.

Total of parts: Around $180.

This is the stripped gear.

You can find a picture of my new rims in the Monster Truck section of the image gallery :D.

Time to get a new CB! Anybody recommend a good one? Anybody know why the CB stripped?

OH SHOOT! That's what I forgot to get. The number of teeth. Aww man, now I can't count them =(. I'll ask the seller if he knows.

Oh, and I'm not sure about the new spur or CB, I bought this used and came with it.

BTW: Thanks for the link. I'm definitely gonna buy one of those.

Quick question, If i want a faster acceleration, i would get a more teeth on my Spur and if i want more top i would get less teeth? Right?

Bigger clutch bell and smaller spur = faster speed.

Actually, I'm not sure on the Savage, since the tranny is still bumming me out. It's either you change the main one or the one inside the tranny case.

yeah for better acceleration your going to want a smaller CB, I would go that way it makes a much bigger difference if you go with the CB instead of the spur. Go down one tooth or maybe two at the most and you will notice a wicked difference...if you can keep the front end down??

BTW, the CB tooth number is stamped on it, you don't need to count them. But that sucks dude. I am thinking you had a steel spur with a regular (non hardened CB) they get eaten up by the steel spurs, they are just not tough enough metal. I ran my 18T CB for a bit just for a high speed test and already the teeth are folding. Get a hardened clutch bell and you will never have that problem again.

incorrect, you will slow down the top speed with less teeth on your clutch bell, just think, your gearing it DOWN. = more acceleration less top speed.

Ohh, oops I said it wrong. Lemme fix it. LOL.

Bringing the CB number of teeth UP lessens the torque and increases top speed.

I don't think it was the spur that was giving me the problem. It was just because I didn't have a hardened one. Can the CB also strip if the slipper is too tight?

i dont think the slipper has anything to do with it.

it gets stripped when you have improper gear mesh, or your running a steel spur with a non hardened CB.

Yeah, I think it was improper mesh. I took the engine screws off and when I put it back on I didn't bother using the paper trick. I'll do it for sure when I get my new CB.

I've had proper gear mesh with a steel spur and a regular CB and still stripped it to hell. make sure your getting a hardened one

Defently get a hardened cb. If you dont and you are running a steal spur gear this will happen again no mater what your gear mesh is.

Alright, so I went to my LHS and luckily they had the Robinson Racing "Extra Hard" CB for the Savage. I'm gonna go put it on now to see how it looks.
