I did a search looking for this, but didn't find much. So, I figured I'd start a thread in hopes that some of you have some input.

I have a recently aquired savage and I want to avoid doing what I did on my t-maxx. Which was buying hop ups that should have been thrown in the trash.

If you would, just state what you bought, and how it worked out... good or bad.

Thanks.

So far, I haven't really bought anything to make it structuraly better for it.

I'm looking into getting New Era Upper arms that will allow me to use buggy shocks like I have on my maxx. Also, I'm probably going to get NewEra's roll bar that mounts to the front shock tower. Just need to save up the $. Between these 2 mods, it's going to be around $200. That's what I paid for the roller in the first place. But it's all in the name of durability and protection!

My truck currently has the following:
1. HB shocks, broke all 8 in one day.
2. Duel brake kit, works really well, minimal wear. Can't remember the mfr though, I think it's HPI's.
3. HB CVD's, holding up fine, but lost rear center pin. Replaced it with hardened steel pin for hardware store.
4. OFNA Tank mod
5. Hitec 645MG servo
6. MP Servo Saver Mod
7. XTM 21 maxx exaust, stock was just to loud for my taste and it made my engine run weaker.
8. Airtronics MX-3 Radio. A lot less glitchy than the JR XR2 that I had and traxxas TQ3.

How in the world were you able to break all 8 shocks in 1 day. I had heard HB threaded shocks tended to leak but I never thought they would have a 100% failure rate.

The rest of your list looks good. My only suggestions would be to do the throttle linkage mod. I did it and it made a huge difference. No binding at all. Also, if you want protection, the New Era center skid plate bolts right on and does its job.

Almost forgot, the 4 spider diff mod is a must.

Two bent shafts, 6 e-clips snapped internally.

I have the diff mod... forgot to post that. I don't have any binding in my throttle, so I don't really see the point in the linkage mod.

I had a little binding in mine. If would not open the throttle completely in one smooth stroke. Went with the ofna linkage sliders and it took care of the problem. However, in your case you are right, if it aint broke, don't fix it.

i have a new era wheelie bar that is worth about nothing, its way to short so when it wheelies it just flips on its lid everytime although its made well it serves no purpose, also dont buy any cheap towers or bulks they tend to very easy and you will be 100% dissapointed buy new era or nova,or golden horizon from what i hear they are alot thicker.........

Well, I just bought new era's upper arms to use with UE-Supermaxx shocks. I hope the combo performs as well as my sport maxx. I also bought a set of 4 shocks today... I found a site that takes paypal. Had money sitting in there that I couldn't spend!

Sounds like you are doing fine for hop-ups so far. The brake kit is HPI's brake kit.

i need a brake kit also my brake pad is like all shreading up, which one is good?i put one that was to strong on my monster pirate and did some damage to my diffs. ring gear!! to strong when i hit the brakes the diffs ring gear would click loud

To strong of a brake can be fixed easily with an adjustment of either the linkage or the xmitter EPA. I had the same happening on mine after I installed the engine and radio gear. I just adjusted my EPA so it doesn't move so far. Now, if I peg the brake, it comes to a quick stop in grass and pavement without doing an endo.

a really good hop up is the rc-solutions roll cage. it protects pretty much everything on the savage including the fuel tank for those who keep cracking theirs. and if you dont go with that id say go with aluminum chassis mounts. those will most likely keep your savage from snapping the front end off in a crash.

"aluminum chassis mounts" What are these? I'm not completely familiar with all the parts on a savage. I've had the front off, but I'm not sure what these are. Got a link to some?
