i have an atomik r/c temp gun like this

http://www.savageshop.co.uk/engines/tmk_tempgun.jpg

and I'm not sure where to take the most accurate reading. normally i have been taking temps at the top of the cooling head and side of crankcase and normally the temps range from 210f to 250f and I'm 3 1/4 turns out on the HSN but today i decided to test my exhaust header and it was 346f so I'm hoping that its normal to have the exhaust very hot and that my temps are ok...

I temp it on the plug and the head. If you do the exhaust side it may give you a false lean temp. BTW I have the exact same gun you linked.

my muffler runs very hot with this collari also, way hotter than my wasp did,but my engine never has been over 230,i also just hold my gun pointing down into the cooling head(same heat gun as your self also)

I temp at an angle down the head beside the plug.

For some reason, bomber and I bashed yesterday for almost 7 hours and neither of our trucks ran hot (190-220 range). It was 95 degrees with 50% humidity... very weird.

yea the other day it was in the upper 90's and where i am humidity is almost always 100% and my temps were only 210.

thanks for your help and the fast replies...
