anyone ever used one of the " flashpoint" or equivilant style temp guns?? I'm looking for one, and i want one of the guns with the laser thingy.. but there spencive as hell.. do the other style ones do any good?? how do you use them?? can i gat a gun style for under $50 with the laser thing?? if not what is the best cheepy you know of?? anyone got one there not using?? wanna sell it?? later

the flashpoint ones are OK but they are no where near as accurate as the "laser gun thingy".....I've used mine and a flashpoint on the same surface at the same time and gotten 30deg difference.....raytech is the best gun to get....look at grainger or electronic supply places for them instead of LHS.....should find them around 70-80 bucks.....for the extra dough over what you were looking to spend it's worth it

could you give me an idea of where to look?? like hobby lobby or radio shack?? walmart?? i havent a clue where to get these.. again anyone got one they wanna sell?

I use teh Radio Shack one and I find it is pretty accurate if you get it pointed at a clear area.

i have the duraflash. i geuss it works cool. when engine is warm it reads at about 230 degress when fully warmed.

I have an ofna one and it works great it has a laser guide thing so u know where your aiming it. its sweet.

I have one just like the one Dustin had the other day. I bought mine (used) off ebay for $30. I would reccomend getting a used one over new...saves on the cash...the one we have is made by raytek.

Heres an auction for a new one...If it were me i would just wait for a used one to be listed....just email the owner and make sure its in good working condition.

how much is the radio shack one?? my roommate works there and I can get a discount.

Yeah I was going to mention a member here once pulled apart the Radio Shack temp gauge and it did say raytech.

I used to have a rather large temp gun to the 2 I have now the Tempgun.com PE-1 and the PE-Mini. Which seem to work fine for RC use in the 20-30$ range.

I've been quite happy with my ofna temp gun and i also have a venom onboard on my one car. they always measure within 2* of each other. remember a temp gun isnt a tuning tool, its a warning device. tune for smoke and power first, and then temp it. so long as the temp is reasonable there is no need for further adjustment. if the temp is too high, you know there is something wrong. thats all you use it for.

so was the temp gun from radio shack as accurate as the bigger raytek one??

thanks,
adrian
