I guess you have a point there..I wouldn't mind having an onboard one.Don't you just wrap a wire around the cooling head or the crankcase ?

With an onboard temp gauge about the best you can do is to put the probe around the lowest part of the head as close to or around the base at the crankcase as it will allow installing.

To M@xximillion: Does the RS infrared thermometer have the lazer dot for aiming? Just curious.

chris what do you mean when you say bottom fin .the dirctions on mine said to put it at the top of the case.do you get a better reading there?

No, but the aiming part fits almost perfectly into the glo plug area, so its pretty accurate.

I may check out the Craftsman one at Sears. About $60 and with Lazer dot aiming.

It has a laser pointer for aiming. I'm picking one up this weekend because of the sale.

Currently I have a Radio Shack infared (no laser) and a venom on-board temp gauge that I use on my NTC3. They both work well. I want the laser pointer though for more accuracy. My on-board works very well mount right below the bottom fin of the cooling head itself. That would be on the case itself at its highest point. I really like the highest hit and lowest hit temp recall feature. Gives me more piece of mind. I have severely rolled my TC3 without the body on and it survived just fine. The key there is placement and how you secure it. I used space shuttle velco :bling:

  • Heres a pic of how I mounted my Venom temp guage. I use a peice of 1/8 in alum. from Home Depot and bent to shape with a vice...

This is the one that I have. I bought it off AnandTech forums. I have been very happy with it. I was using this constantly when I was breaking in my NTC3. This one has a laser pointing dot.

Bought the Craftsman Infrared today. Paid $50 for it. Goes on sale tommorow for $45 with Craftsman Club card but I can't find mine. Everytime I got to Sears for something on sale they never have it. At least the closest one to me never does. I figured I was there and only two were left so I just paid the extra $5 and saved the gas I'd have used to go again. Probably broke about even.It seems to work pretty good. I just walked around the house checking stuff (raining outside so no R/Cs today), laser dot makes aiming pretty easy and temp comes up almost instantly. Reading stays on screen for 8 seconds then unit shuts off. Button to hold high/low temp but haven't tried that. Acuracy is stated to be within 2.5%, that should be close enough.

I could make you one if you want me to. It is really simple to make (just a little bending). And the bracket for the pipe is from the Hot Bodies:sniper: pipe. PM me if you want one of the temp brackets.

Is it just me or does it look like the temperature there is 764º's???
Nice Car BTW.
