This one was a much nicer turnout, entire team was there other than our one brother who is not well enough to be there yet. It was hot, humid, but we had a great time. At the end of the day we left tired, sunburned and drained. Lot of great races, lots of lessons learned, and new bonds formed. I really love how this team has come together - and we were all a little sad that the brother who couldn't be there didn't get to see this in person.

There was a lot of back and forth on the bottom of the list, but on the other end, my brother-in-law, rookie driver, taking the wheel of the Nova officially now, after 10 minutes of practice and doing exactly ONE full pass, moved up to the number 2 spot! Undefeated. And boy did he let us know it, lol. He put in a couple of great passes and would have probably claimed the top spot had he not wrecked the car after beating my Mustang on the big end and cracking the front bulkhead. He was insanely happy :D

Most of the cars ran well. I personally had major issues with Invader II and I didn't get it figured out until the end of the day. With the heat, the car was hooking up great, but at around mid track it kept inexplicably veering left and skidding out of control. Happened several times. Luckily no major wrecks as I was able to get out of it and save it. I did win a grudge race sliding through the traps backwards!

I had two things wrong in the car, one compounded the other problem. First, and foremost, the big fat Mambo tires were ballooning more than normal because of the heat. In fact, I noticed that even when sitting there, the tire was nearly touching the manifold, the tire definitely swelled some in the heat, as the clearance seemed good the night before when setting it up. So when I got out to about 60 feet, the tire was rubbing on the manifold, and then because I had also set my rear shocks lighter, riding up the manifold. I kinda had this issue before with my old rims/tires, but stiffened the shocks. I really thought I had plenty of clearance, but the tire indicated otherwise!

That's some significant scuffing, no wonder it kept shooting left at mid track. In fact, now that I think about it, nearly every single crash this car has ever had the car drifted left. Duh. That manifold is the "long" Reds onroad one. No brainer to switch to the short version and get some more clearance. Hopefully it's enough, as that was a 30 dollar fix vs having to switch to narrower tires and play with offsets. I also doubled up my shock springs, as even with them at the most compressed setting they weren't super stiff. This will let me at least make sure the tire doesn't ride up and make it worse, though I think with the short manifold I should be ok. I can take out the extra springs if it looks good, and go with a little softer setting hopefully.

Can't complain though :)

Looks like fun. Love the uhaul. I use that scheme on my 10.2 here and there. 🤣🤣
