hi guys, I was given a team losi 4WD truck with a .26 engine. I finally got it going and the engine was working decent but now when u take the breaker bar and try to start it, it turns the shaft but does not turn over the engine except every couple turns and thats not enough for it to fire. I thought it might be easier to just put a brand new engine in it but can not seem to find the right size alan wrench it needs please help me any way u can on either what size alan wrench or if I can just replace where it turns over. Thxs --Ryan

What are you calling the "breaker bar"?

.26 engine

Sorry, not sure what its called its just a long 6mm bar I put to the engine and use my drill to start the engine.

that's called a roto start.Make sure your drill is turning the correct way, the drill should be in reverse to start the truck, at least that how all mine was, counter clockwise

Your one-way bearing could also need to be cleaned or possibly replaced. It could be slipping on the shaft.

My old Losi 26 had this problem constantly.

When you guys are saying the old Losi 26 are you refering to the MACH 427 or was there a Losi .26 before that? It does sound like the problem is could be one way bearing.

take off the rotostart, remove the bearing clean with denatured alcohol and re install, make sure you put it back on like it came off. could spray some wd40 on it before you put it back in.

There should be some "writing" or "stamp" on the side of the bearing that is against the engine block. After a solid cleaning make sure it goes on the same way taken off or it wont spin at all. The OWB was my guess as well. Theyre cheap enough at most LHS's ($15ish) if that is your problem. Cleaning it will only buy you some time until you have to do it again. Replacing it will last longer.

TMaxxfreak, how sure are you of the drill having to be in reverse? I have this exact engine and every time I've used my drill to start it, it was in forward. I'm not doubting you don't get me wrong just now questioning myself and wondering if I've done any harm to my engine. I'm kind of a worry wart, but with the money we spend on these things I think I'm justified to be one. But then again I don't think it would've started if the drill was turning in the wrong direction.

After some online research losi spin starts spin clockwise, well roto starts like Hpi spin counter clockwise. Found that one out from neobart on a lst forum, not the on here. I thought it was interesting lol. He's got the same profile pic over there too.
