I have had my Ntc3 for like 2 years now and this is the first problem i have had. I hadn't driven it in like 6 months and when i finaly did, some of the screws had come loose on the servos and the brake/throttle rods. The collars came un-done and everything slipped out of place. I have not tuned my engine again and it is probobly way off which could be the problem but what happens is when i brake, the engine cuts off because the reverse throttle cuts off the carb. I am just wondering what i need to adjust...the lsn, hsn, idle screw, or the brakes....anything else....i am in the dark on this one.
Thanks again

First off, you have to recenter the servo then reattach the servohorn. Check the carb opening so that you have about the thickness of a credit card. This is done with the Idle screw. Also make sure you have your throttle trim set before you do this. I usually keep about 1/4 adjustment in case I need to turn down the idle. Put it at the fully closed position and there's no adustment if you need to turn it down. Give some allowance.

The engine is cutting off because the carb is closing off completely.Hit full brakes and see how muc of a gap you have. Then follow the above directions.

just wana clear things up.

So let me just go through this...tell meif I'm not gona do it right.

First i have to recenter the servo......how do you do that?

Then i have to use the idle screw to get 1/8 inch gap. Now do i do this without the servo arms and stuff conected?

Next i have to adjust throttle trim. Do you mean use he trim on remote and set it a lil higher in case of adjustment...?

And about the gap...i know it cutting carb off but how do i stop it from doing that....i really do not understand

I sound like an idiot in this thread but I'm so lost with this break stuff. Just tell me if what i have so far is right.

Thanks bro.

Turn on the car and radio without the servo horn attached. Make sure the trim is where you want it on the radio

Idle can be set without the servo being conencted via the idle screw

Yes, the trim on the radio. Set this first, while centering the servo

When you reattach the arm and servo, hit the brakes to check if it's closing the carb. IF it is, and you're using a slide carb, loosen the collar on the arm and move it in so that it's at the maximum adjustment

Don't worry, we're here to help. You can also d/l the NTC3 manual and look it up there. It shows you how to set up the carb and linkage.
CLICK HERE it's on page 26 if the manual (step#13)

yo man thnx a ton bro

man i think i finally got it...it like 10:00 at night right now so i dont wana wake neighbors trying it but man it loook perfect for right now...the carb opens fully, the idle's great, and carb dont close with brakes no more. It was sooooo simple to fix but I'm just an idiot lol. Thanks again for your help bro.

You're quite welcome. I guess it helps that I ran that car pretty competatively when I first started out racing. Enjoy the car. If you have any more problems or questions, feel free to ask.

lol dude its so messed up

alright heres the deal...i went out to try it this morning and when i got it started it just took off. I tried richening it but then it wouldnt start so i got it leaned up enough to crack then it finaly started and took off again. I think it is with the idle screw...so my question is....with the idle screw, when u adjust it, do u loosen it so that you can move the carb with your fingure, then hold it in the setting you want it in then tighten the screw down so it locks it in place and can still go full throttle but not backwords? Or do u have to just tighten or loosen the screw like the low and high speed needles? I think that once this problem is solved...my car will work and be able to be tuned. And if you could, can you send me the factory setting to the idle, low and high speed screws...
Thanks again man youve made this a lot easier

turning the idle screw is like the HSN and LSN. It will open or close depending which way you turn it. The screw slides in and out of a groove that, in turn, opens or closes the carb.

Also, which engine came with the RTR+ was is it the 12 or 15? I can't remember and I never owned the RTR model since I went straight to the FT edition of ver1

pretty sure its the High-performance .15-size 90-degrees-port ABC engine from Associated Electrics

if you can possibly find or if u know the fac. settings to the needls it would probly help a ton

hey my AIM sn is dynastydrummer9 so if u wana talk on there instead which would be much faster then lets do that

the older rtrs came with a .12 but the new nitro tc3+ rtr comes with the one you mentioned above. i am haveing the same problem as you

if your still haveing all of these problems with it, take the restrictor out of the carb(the little white thing). i did this and barely messed with it and it works fine. you miight have just turned it a bit. As far as over heating goes i havnt had anything too bad with it. just richen it up a tad.
