I recently picked up a TC5 in a trade and this will be my first on road car. We are paving a few acres at work so this will be my playground. Anybody with one know what breaks easy or wht i should keep on hand? I can see where they allow you to set your diffs differently and there is some talk about a one way?? differential in the front. Whats that all about?

Right now the plan is a mamba max 6900 with a 2s 6000Hv lipo.
what else should i plan on putting in there?

if you are new to on road DO NOT put a one way in there.....the one way lets the back push harder than the front so you have more power pushing the rear than pulling the front....makes the car faster in turns but alot more unstable from the back end pushing more.......I'd get some of that clear plastic coating to protect the CF chassis from getting destroyed......and a push broom to clear the parking lot of ALL debris where you are going to run...little pebbles have a nasty habit of being sucked into a belt drive line and doing damage on a regular basis.......

Hey Fishy.... do you know if they make those protective sheets for the TC4?, and what do they consist of? Thanks man... I have noticed my CF chassis is getting all scared up.

dang.... not sure if i want to drive it now. haha. i changed my mind and went with a novak GTB/velociti 3.5 with a 2S lipo. We have several acres paved out here but i am sure there is going to be dust, sand, and little bitty pebbles just like any other concrete slab.

would a shaft driven tt-01 have been a better choice?

Well pebbles would not affect the shaft driven car as much, obviously.. but there is still and open pinion and spur gear that is just as suceptable (sp?) to small pebbles and dust. I went with the shaft driven TC4 instead of the TC5 for that very reason. I didn't want the maintainence that went along with a belt driven car. The TC5 is a smoother excellerating car because of the belt, but since I was just bashing and racing only occassionally the TC4 fit me a bit better. I don't think the TC5 is a bad choice at all. You will just have to be mindfull of the belt drive system and always remember to keep it clean. Just my opinion of course.

hmmm, interesting.

mine is going to be a basher and really just a "blast around and drift the parking lot" type of car. what extra maintenance is there for a belt driven car?

The belt will need to be examined periodically for wear. That is the only "special" maintainence if you want to call it that. You need to keep an eye on the belt tension as well.. check it periodically and make sure the tension is right. Belts will wear out, and really that is it. No surprise there. LOL The small road debris will wear out a belt fast and if the debris is big enough it can cause the belt to fail. It is not a huge deal really. I think you have a great car and you should have fun. I am by no means saying you can't bash around in a TC5... because you certainly can. You just have to keep a close eye on the belt drive is all.

awesome. i'll grab a few extra belts to have on hand. i just can't wait to get this thing on an open stretch of road and open it up.

i hope so. i'll try to get a video of it this weekend if i can. Just waiting for everything to come in.

If you do not plan on racing, don't bother with a one-way or spool.

no racing. not competitive anyway. Its just gonna be screaming around and drifting in parking lots
