Out of the box the Associated TC5 is setup for carpet racing. The chassis is extremely rigid. Du to this there is a 2nd chassis and top plate available from Ass. for asphalt racing. The ITF chassis and top deck offers a large amount of flex over the stock setup.

The top plate has several long cutouts in it and the chassis is much thiner. I just got my set today and will be installing them for the race next weekend. Last week was depressing day for both me and my TC5 as I had little to no control at race speed. Lets hope that this and a proven setup from the factory drivers will help.

Hey Ed... since I am not real sure why.. I will ask. What is the difference between Carpet and asphalt that the chassis needs to be so much stiffer? Is it because the cars slide more on asphalt than carpet or vise versa? I have always wondered and I guess I should have asked a while ago. LOL

Good luck with the conversion. I can't wait to see it.

see tom you just had to use that brain a lil after a fri nite beer fest and you came up with it...LOL....carpet gives insane traction (I wish we had a carpet track here) so instead of putting the power to t etires and they spin causing th eslide, e stiffer chassis allows this to happen much easier as it won't absorb the energy just transfer it to t ewheels and they break loose....the softer chassis will act as a shock absorber for that energy AND from any imperfections in the asphault....

Well said.
I measured the chassis and the carpet (Stock) is 2.5mm and the ITF (Asphalt) is 2mm thick. I got it all put together last night and will be doing some setup changes this week.

Interesting changeover. I unstuck the RX and ESC, turned it over, un-did the 10 or so screws and the chassis came off. The way its designed is AWESOME!! Everything was still connected from the top and I just screwed the new chassis on. It took all of 10 minutes to do the entire job. I was expecting it to take an hour or so.
