I posted this in my Nitro Rustler/Sport thread, but I'm thinking I may get some help here. What tape are you guys using? Cleaning these things takes FOREVER, the glue is so thick.

Can't keep my tires from ballooning, I've tapes them twice using Gorilla tape. Both times the tires came off of the tape, the glue and the tape separated. I don't do donuts, or anything else that should put crazy stress on the tape. Both time it started at one spot, I would get a lump at high speeds, then it worked it's way around the tire until it was all ballooning. Any ideas, I'm about to remount them without tape and let them balloon away.

The same problems gonna occur with any tape I'm affraid. I've taped every set of tires i used on my tmaxx and they all still balloon. Until i bought the proline wheels and badland tires already glued. They are alot better but still balloon some. I've seen tire straps but never used them. They mount around the outside center of the tires like rubber bands with notches on them. can't remember exactly where i seen them either. May have been on prolines website.

Thanks, I'm about to mount them w/out taping, at least they'll balloon all the way around, instead of one spot. I'm pretty sure those straps are only for mounting, they keep even pressure while the glue dries.

I use gorilla tape on my Revo & Jato. I never ran into that problem before.

I had the exact same problem when I taped my big joes - they went all lumpy untill the tape completely let go.

I'm not going to bother in the future, ballooning is better than square tyres.

My Trenchers are so soft though, I know they will balloon like CRAZY if they aren't taped. They were wider than the tape I had on them, this allowed the outer edges to still balloon, it looked funny and the outer edges are worn slightly more than the center lol.

i have taped all mt tires.and i haven't had any problems so far.but i also put 3 sets of tires on in a month.revo response pros, imex k-rocks,then the badlands and i've never looked back!the badlands are grt-8.i use black tape.
i have also tried spray foam sprayed it in the tire let it swell up and dry trimmed them out and mounted them.kinda worked made it too heavy..(engine ran hot,to much load)
