My son has a Tamiya Hornet Evo and the rears are already severely worn out after 30 days of use. Is there a tire upgrade in terms of hardness?

I know newer cars have the hex hub, but I am no expert. These OEM rims use a key pin to hold the rim to spin the tire, so if I were to get new larger rims and tires I'm not sure what to select.

He likes to go off and on road. Is there a fair compromise between these terains in order to get better performance.

don't want to spend a ton of money, but curious what I can get him to tinker with an upgrade from what it came with.

can you please link me to suggestion of tires or tires and rim combinations that fit this buggy please?

thanks!

You could use a hex hub that would adapt to the key pin. Make sure the inner diameter fits, and the pin as well👍🏻

Would you be able to link me to some examples of what I could purchase him? Want to make sure I get the right stuff.

Thanks!

I just order a set. Now to find the right type of rim and tire that is a bit like a chunky truck tire. Thanks Mike.
Good luck finding that "chunky" tire for a 2.2" buggy wheel. These were the cheapest ($5) biggest knobby medium compound tire I could find back in 2015...
