I went to one hobby store in Manhattan. The person that I think is the owner would make these "off" comments. I thought the guy was being friendly and just had bad social skills or something. When I paid for some stuff that I getting, The guy said something to me in a way that made me think this guy may have spent too long a time in lockdown. I decieded I would never go back there. I later went on a spending spree at Tower and several other online stores.

I did eventually find another LHS but it took while.

ANyone ever go to a hobby shop on jamaica ave & 105th st in Richmond hill Queens????I used to live on that street and never went in there until I went back to visit last year...decent looking place.....forget the name...very helpful guys....

Wow some of you LHS suck, mine is awsome. I can go in their and they dont try to sell me crap I dont need, some times if I keep breaking the same part they will suggest a better aftermarket part but that is it. If I go in their and I dont know what part I need I just discribe it to them and they look in their huge parts book and get the part number and go in their back room and get it for me.
One time I kept having problems with my ez start I replaced the wires and a few other things and it still wouldnt work so the guy who sold me my maxx said bring it in and I did he worked on it for free, and gave me a bunch of fuel. and it turned out the problem was the EZ start controller, well he didnt have any separet controllers all they had was the whole EZ start pakage, comes with the EZ start, motor, gears, controller, wires all the Ez start components. so he opened the pakage and sold me just the controller no extra fee. My LHS is awsome

Mr.T-Maxx, where do you live?? Maybe I need to go to your LHS.
I am driving 45 minutes to an hour to Tazewell.

The hobby shop here acts like they are doing you a favor when they sell ya something. If they don't have a car in stock, it's junk. Prices are about 20% higher than they are on the net. Order something.... 3 weeks later they are asking for a part number. I can have it here in 3 days myself!!! I told them I could get fuel $10 cheaper on the gallon at Appex. Guy told me he could get fuel cheaper, but it wasn't fresh. He didn't want to see anyone mess up an engine. What kinda crap is that??? Bronco doesn't get but about 14mpg, but I may go down there to get fuel tomm.
Really like the guy down there. Nice drive. Shame to have to drive that far to a smaller town to get something. Most of mine comes from the net.

My LHS is the best MUCH better than my old lhs in Pittsburgh... They do work for FREEEEEEE and tune your cars for FRREEEEEEEE (yay). Also they know a bunch of stuff and they really know what they are doing (most of the time). Sometimes i go in there asking if they can see whats wrong with something, then they spot something else and fix it lol. They rock. And they carry all my GT parts (mostly) not sure if they carry ofna, but ill use ebay for my hyper 7. I used to have Hobbytown USA (45mins away) and Hobby City (30mins away) not too bad. Right now mine is about 18mins away (mwwwahahahahaha)

i agree some hobby shops are rediculous.. either snobs and know it all's or dummies that need part numbers for every item cuz they havent a clue about the hobby at all..but there are some really decent ones far and few.

you want great prices ..and great service.. try the hobbyshop me and plaidfish use . southeastrc.com

I have two LHS. Ones called Petters Hobbies and Well drilling...lol.. No joke.. The dudes almost never at the hobbie shop, so I very rarely even waste my time going there. When I call to see if he has a part, you have to leave a voicemail, and he usually returns the call later that night, or in the up coming weekend. Its kinda bad. it is a sweet little shop when its open though. My other one is called Bakers Craft and Hobby. Its also a ok little shop I guess. Nothing like you guys have I'm sure. There nitro parts are VERY limited, but if you even need a Pikachu pokemon game card or some of them magic cards, This is the shop for you. There nitro section is getting a little better, But I've been bitchen for MONTHS now, esp. about fuel. I used to have to specail order it..lol.. But there coming around..

Sounds like I'm pretty lucky. I drive past one cause the owner has personality issues but the 45 minute drive to get to Hobby Corner is worth every minute of it. Owner is a local racer and can fix anything that rolls or flies. If he doesn't have a store full of customers he'll take a wrench to your rig if you need it @ no charge. One of the other members of RCN ordered his car there and the owner not only let him do the build in the shop but loaned him tools too!

i have two lhs's. They both are simi-pricey and are not so local. one is 30 min away and the other 20. One primarily has parts for the savage and t-maxx. And the other is almost a complete rip-off. Ex. Used Savage wants $375. (bone stock)

Went to my "local" hobby shop yesterday. 1hr, 15min one way. Bought 2 gallons of fuel. Saved $24 minus about $15 gas in the Bronco.

Here is one on the shop in town. I needed a temp gauge. Price on the box $46. Think he let me have it for $35. Tells me he will cut me a deal. Really acts like he is doing me a favor charging me $12 more than Tower!

Well, anyway... After getting home yesterday, I'm running my Savage and strip out the one-way bearing. I'll be back to the one in town tomm. maybe. Probably cost me about $25?? :hammer:

Well, I hae othing to complain about when it comes to my LHS. I was there from the time they opened their doors. Nothing but superior service and great people. Lots of tips and coaching came from them when I started racing competatively. The knowlege surpasses the great prices and service. I have yet to buy anything from an online store.

well my local hobbie shop is no good at all ...they dont have any parts that i ever need.. and there is only 1 person over there that takes orders .. and he only there 1 day...and they charge way to much for the rc trucks.. i told them why should i buy from you ? when i can get it cheaper.... an they dont treat people good at all.. so i called over there about 1 week ago.. and got a hold someone that i never seen .. i ask her .. how are you .. and she replaid and said I'm the new owner of the norwood hobbie shope i said to my thank god...lol the organal owner was there about 15 years... now there a new place also .. but never went there yet... thanks curtis;allen

I do pay a little more at the lhs than I would online. I know going in that I will and consider it worth every penny for a few reasons;
A- I can ask a question to a real person, or better yet show them my rig and ask about it
B- I walk in the door and the owner says hey man, how is that buggy of yours doing?
C- I'm helping to support the little guy
D- I'm a sucker for instant gratification- no waiting a week for whatever
