Good Morning all,

I haven't posted anything in like two days... I am going through withdrawl! :smoke:

My question is this guys, When taking the stock arms off the t maxx how do you get the knuckle off of the two arms? To get the pillow balls off do you need to unscrew the hex head screws and then take the pillow balls out? After that it is just a matter of taking off the parts necessary to get to the stock pins. Then the arms are supposed to come right off. Also the RPM arms that I am putting back on say that I should get some sort of thin nut to put on the shock screw. Do you guys know what they are talking about? If so, can I get them at my LHS? Thanks guys.

There is a hole in the pillow ball cup. You can put your allen driver right through there and unscrew them from the arms, it does help to loosen the cup a bit though. If you are still using the stock arm screw pins, they will just screw in to the new arm the way they did in the stock arm. You dont have to put a nut on the back side of the shock screw that holds the lower part of the shock to the arm. I do however, it is a 3mm nut, you will need a slightly longer 3mm screw in order to do this.

Can I get this at my lhs or do I need to go to the hardware store? About the pillow balls, I just stick an allen wrench through the cups and unscrew them from the arms? I am also going to go ahead and replace the stock screw pins with ti pins. Thanks my friend.

Finding hardware (screws,nuts washers) this small at your local harware store can be tough. I would pick them up at the LHS. The nut he is referring to is a common nut on your truck and very handy to have.

What is the common nut, washer, screw that I should refer to (You said that they are common to the Maxx already) when asking for them at my LHS? I appreciate the input my friend. I still have alot to learn. Thanks

The nut that NCNitro is reffering to is a 3mm nylon lock nut. Stock I beleive these are used on the rear control links (turnbuckles). I seem to find a number of uses for them.

Your LHS will know what you are talking about when you ask for a 3mm nylon lock nut...If not....time to find a better LHS;)

Every LHS I've been to has a rack (spinning rack thing) with either du-bro parts or great plains parts on it for nuts/bolts/washers/screws/knicknacks.

If they don't have the specific traxxas bag of crap, just go find that rack and look for 3mm stuff. I think you need a bolt that is 16mm - 20mm... I can't remember the size I used to use, but if you have a dremel, buy long then cut it if it's too long.

You can buy a crapload of nuts/bolts/washers there for a fraction of the price a hobby shop sells them for.

Case in point, go to www.mcmaster.com and search for "90576A112". This is the part number for 3mm locknuts that I've purchased there. $1.97 for a bag of 100. Since I have a dremel, I bought a bunch of cap head 20mm bolts(part# 91290A123), countersunk 20mm(part#91294A136) and button heads 20mm(part# 91239A122). I posted part #'s because their site has so much stuff that it's kind of hard to find what you want.

You can buy what you want, but having a 100 of each of these around is like having gold for me... although, the savage doesn't use many 3mm bolts. Good thing I have my HPI NitroMT. I recently converted it from stock course threaded screws to all machine screws.

Also, compairing prices, these are way cheaper than going to a LHS or tower.
