I got the o.s.18TM for my maxx I have not installed it yet.looking for Idea's for part up grade's like pipe. right know I have FRworks pipe off my old FR18. also looking to up grade drive train to handel the power.and will the Trans handel the power? I have installed F/O conversion.I'm not looking to race just bash

i honestly havent a clue what pipe to use i used the blue aluminum pipe from traxxas on mine and seemed to work rather well ,with the TM i would make sure you tear the diffs down and shim them to take most all the play out or you will grenade them
as for tranny gears the only problem i had was when i was using revers and kept blowing the forward and reverse gears and the idler gear ,but with the FOC no problems there they are gone ,
with the stock slider axles ,you will twist them like nothing ,try and find CVD's for it or try this mod to make them last longer
take the axles out and try removing the universals from them and take the female shaft and install it on the diff side and the male end towards the wheel i did that and they seemed to last alot longer with no problems

I understand what your talking about.but how does it help?.and how do you like your 18cvrx?is that the one that need's the crank cut and it has side exhaust right! do you think that 18cvrx has more power then the 18TM or the same.I put the 18cv-r in my Tc3 and just love the power.thank's for the help

well when you swap the 1/2 shafts it just makes the more durable with the thickest part towards the diff
i never twisted another after swapping them around
yes the CVRX need the crank cut and if you need instruction for the total install go to this link it will talk you right thru it

as for power it was insane compared to the 2.5 and as for the TM there is only like .3 hp difference but a $100 difference so thats why i went with the cvrx
just get the slide carb version and the stampede adapter and a .15 maxx header and the blue bigbore pipe and your set ,i have 1 forsale hint hint lol
you will not go wrong it is a torque monster ,will flip your maxx over rather easily so ya gotta watch

so the 18TM has more power just a $100 more with no mod's needed.sound's like the motor for me.plus it's not a split crank witch has les chance of power loss.so that's why every one is going with the cvrx to save $100 but they have to buy a new header and pipe etc.I'm going to try that drive axel thing sound's good.and I'm instread in the pipe you have E-mail me because this is not a buy and seel forum

The trans should have the FOC and cvd's all around... I think that is about all you really need to do, other than the diffs...

I have the os 18tm in my T-maxx and would suggest swaping your transmission gear to metal. That engine has alot of power and will strip your plastic gears.

Or they are like me and have a side exhaust pipe/header already laying around...

I have a 18 cv-r(x), big bore header and exhaust sitting in a drawer collecting dust... I got about 10 tanks through it in my HPI Nitro MT then I got rid of the truck as a roller. Just couldn't see getting rid of a brand new engine even though I have nothing to put it in.

Engine: $100
Header: $10
pipe: $10

I'd be lucky to get $50 out of the whole thing since it's used.
