hey Plaidfish thanks but about tires I got a question would Moabs and Big Joe's by proline be good bashing tires.
 
personal prefference man...I think the Big Joes only come in a 40 series tire...If you use 40s be sure you have beefed up your drivetrain too...they are diff Killers...same probably holds true for the Moabs......I use stock size wheels for my maxx cause the 40s don't take crashes too good....
 
not enough rubber around the rim to cushion the big hits....If you are a pro and never smack the boards or crash from big jumps you should be fine....
 
I think i made the right choice when i decided i wanted the maxx. It has in no way been a bad experience. Sure, i dumped a pile of cash into it, but i dont regret it. I enjoy it, even though i dont drive it much... I think I'm mentally sick or something... Someone slap me in the back of the head.
 
Yea their is nothing wrong with the T-Maxx, it has its pros and cons just like anyother R/Cs. My bud JATO has a T-Maxx and never had anything wrong with it yet.......
and he tells me its an awesome truck.
 
I've had pretty good luck with my Maxx, and it is mostly stock. #1 complaint of the Maxx is the crappy 2.5! I definatly think I got a lemon sense other people I know with a Maxx had alot better luck, but mine wouldn't run worth a $hit.

 
IMO the T-maxx is a durable truck, however it has weak points in it.

Pros: Parts availability, ease to work on, simplicity.

Cons: plastic bulkheads, plastic, shocks, too much plastic

Revo is cool and all however, (in my LHS) revo parts are semi- hard to come by.
I have an insane amount of money in my maxx however, all I've really broken have been diffs, one set of bulk heads, the body, and the front skid plate. I've cartwheeled my maxx countless times with it just rolling over and asking for more.

I'm really satisfied with my maxx however I wouldnt mind having a revo.

Most of the time, the maxxes you see with all aluminum and all upgrade parts are merely upgrades from stock just to do it. Example, if you break one set of a-arms and you upgrade, you'll probably do all of them or at least both sides, see what i'm getting at here. I do just that when I go to my LHS.

Quality of a MT is relative, it all has to do with what you plan to do with it. Insane jumps, racing, bashing, you decide.
 
Well, as much as I brag on the Maxx my Sirio .18 messed up something in my stock front diff today. Hopefully it is just a bearing, but I can't tell untill I take it apart. All I know is the out drive is pretty wabbly, and clicks like a bad CV joint on a 1:1.

No. Didn't know about it. I'll take pics when I tear it apart. Right now it is at my buddies house, because I left from there to go to a Festival, and I had to park on the street. Didn't want anyone to steal it.
 
when you first get a T-maxx....tear it all down and do the diff grease w/ lighter grease if you're keeping the diffs 1/10th scale.....diff oil if you upgrade to 1/8 scale diffs.....either one you'd need to shim the play out of them...if you are clicking when you're braking then you might catch it in time to give you some more life out of the existing gears....but for the cost of new ones once it's torn down get new gears......the outdrive gears always need to be shimmed up...buy an OFNA shim kit or 2 and go to town.....I do mine til I feel it almost click when you're moving them...if you make it too tight it will bind and then you start snapping stuff......it's an art for sure.....I'll shim trannies and diffs if someone can tune my enginebetter than i do...LOL...still not super pro at that yet......
 
I've got a flow chart for tunning engines a friend of mine gave me when I first started this hobby. I'll take a pic of it, and see if I can post it.
 
I'm not a total yutz when it comes to tuning...I'm just always too scared to lean out to much...it takes me forever to find my sweet spot so I usually have my pit partner do it for race day...he get's it dead nutz in less than a min...even when I fiddlesticked w/ the needle settings just to see what he does......and he's doing it 100% by ear...now that's an art form for sure......I just take it slow and get to teh track really early so I have plenty of time to tune for the race.....weather here is flakier than tammy baker on a tel-a-thon....
