t-maxx not running!!!

ok so i try to start my maxx today and......nothing!!!!!


i may have flooded it, ill try again in a sec.

whatelse could be causing this????

I'm a newb so use small words..lol

i have a sirio18 with a pull start...the gas lines are new and leak-proof (i think thats what flooded it, it primes way quicker) and i just put the engine back together yesterday. i should have small o-ring around the carb which is not there, never was. could that be causing this?

any ideas from the masters? help me get this beast running and i'll owe you.

if i was u i would take the glow plug out and tip the truck so it is on its back bumper. pull the pull starter a couple of times to see if it was flooded and if it was there should be a whole bunch of gas coming out. if that is the case put the plug back in and try it again.

then if it wasn't flooded take the plug out and see if u need a new one. that might also be the case. what are u using to ignight it? that blue wire or a glow ignitor? i hated the blue wire so i took it off and got a glow ignitor, my truck started a whole lot easier.

and then if none of this helped i would check for the air leaks and check around about that o-ring that wasn't there. that might have been it.

no, all u need to do is just take the plug out and tip it on the back bumper and pull the pull starter a few times. if it is flooded that should have made it so it wasn't anymore.

I think you should just be able to screw the hsn(high speed needle) all the way in and then do that then just put it back to where you had it. Or you could just uplug the fuel tubing from the tank to the carb.IF you dont stop the fuel flow the whold tank will just run through there.

i have found that screwing the hsn in doesn't work. the best way is to take the plug out and pull the starter i found. the fuel doesn't flow throught the enigne as much without the plug in it so it doesn't matter if the line is unpluged or pluged into the gas tank either.

ok i did this and still nothing...i guess i wasn't flooded.

the glow plug is two days old and looks fine.

I'm plugging up my glow stick right now see if thats it.

how long should i let the ignitor charge before i can see if thats the problem?

i dont know something like more than 15 mins. i think depending on what type u have.

actually what i do with a flooded engine is screw the hsn all the way and start the engine and let it burn all the fuel up in the cylinder and then start over fresh.

Couple of issues.

First, when you were trying to start it was there fuel pouring from the exhaust? If so, then it was definitely flooded. Pulling the plug is a good way to clear the fuel.

Second, how long did you charge the glo-ignitor? If you did not get a full charge, then the engine will most likely be a bear to start. Usually it takes an overnight stay on the charger for those things to come up to useful levels of power.

Third, how old is the engine? Have you broken it in properly? If the engine is not broken in, it will act funky and be hard to start.

Fourth, DO NOT TURN THE NEEDLE ALL THE WAY IN AND START HER UP! You will do damage to the engine and carb and end up paying for it in the end. Bad idea.

Fifth, You mentioned a missing O-Ring for the carb. If the carb does not seat properly and seal properly, the engine will not start properly. Air leaks are bad.

My recommendation:
1. Let your glo-ignitor charge over night.
2. Put a new glo plug in the engine (regardless of what the current one looks like).
3. Fresh tank of gas
4. Set the needles to factory pre-sets for the Sirio .18 and replace the missing O-ring.
5. Prime it just a couple of pulls on the pull start worth (do not overdo it).
6. Then give it a go. Once you get it going, then you can worry about tuning it.

i thought that that was wrong about screwing ur hsn all the way in. my friend screwed his engine up by doing that. but we all make mistakes, that is how life goes.

If your LHS is Hobbytown USA, do not listen to the guy. Nine times out of ten the guy behind the counter in Hobbytown is clueless about the hobby.

As for false info, there was none. You could indeed do it the way you mentioned. It will just end up shortening the life of the engine. That is all.

yes i have also found that out too. when i was at my dads house in south carolina there was a hobby town right by his house. i asked him a couple of questions and he had some interesting answers.

Nope, not psychic. Just been around long enough to know that HobbyTown and their campaign of misinformation mislead new hobbyists. They end up making money on your mistakes. There really is no direct correlation between the two, but ... they certainly do seem to be full of ish.

If you hang out here long enough, you will learn a great deal. There are quite a few smart fellows on this site.

okok new glowplug i am recharging the glow ignitor now and reset the needles....i just had the stick charging for 2 hrs and tried it....nothing...

i think i f-ed it up------great now i have no idea what to do.

boy now that i no that i am going to go to another lhs from now on. Hobby chest. did you put the glow starter on the new plug and make sure that it glowed bright? If it doesn't and it is a new plug, you no that it is you glow starter. Try charging it over night. 2hrs seems kinda short. Arent you supposed to charge thos for like, 10 hours?not real sure on that though.I use one that takes a "D" battery.

take the glow plug out of the engine, put it in the glow starter.You said that it was new so if the plug does not glow, you no that there is something wrong with your glow starter.
