I bought a used t maxx last week and i dont know what model it is I'm just trying to figure out if its going to matter when i break something and go to buy parts for it or if i must know what the model is i can post pics if needed i just need to know what parts of the truck to picture. i do believe it used to be a 2.5 tho bc it has a 3.3 motor on it but the ez start is from a 2.5 at least thats whats stamped on the front of it

What color tranny does it have?also is there an electrical wireing on the trans"optidrive" ....post pics if u can it will help us identify it easier.

Its got a black reciever box the battery box is no more the guy that had it b4 me riged up a battery pack and just glued the switch beside it

I'm not sure on the color of the tranny ill have to check when i get home ill take a few pics and post them. I'm pretty sure it isnt the optidrive tho

Post clear pics of the top and bottom and we can identify what model # it is, or which model #'s it may be pieced together with.

pics of t maxx

here are the pics of the t maxx to id. guy that had it b4 me put a duel rear exhaust will be replacing with a new tuned exhaust and i pulled the 3.3 to inspect it but thats my t maxx

t-maxx 2.5 is what i would call it possibly a mix of the classic and the2.5,but not a 2.5r.

That would be a 2.5 model # 4910 that has had the 3.3 installed.
It also still has reverse and aftermarket shocks & springs.

thanks alot for the help with the id the 3.3 thats on it its got a little life left in it but i dont believe its gonna last to much longer i pulled the motor and disassembled it and cleaned it and all but I'm planning on putting the dynamite .19 in it seems to be a good motor for the price. I'm going to check the tranny and see what kinda shape its in and depending on what i find will be either replaceing the chunk or putting a forward only kit in it I've been told the reverse only causes head ache and robbs a little power. I bought the truck for 125 would yall say that was a good deal

The 4910 tranny would be the easiest swap. You can make the current 3.3 transmission work but it requires modifications and is really not worth the effort. The 4909 model transmission is a direct swap but you will probably not find one as they are rare.

I have owned probably 15+ TMaxx's throughout the years in all variations. With the FOC the black transmission is as reliable as the grey.

man am i glad i didnt just sell my 4909 tranny, thanx for the good info snook man.

The FOC is the best trans upgrade and as long as your in there a single speed conversion would make it even more dependable. :D

Pulled my tranny and opened it up yesterday and everything looked good i just adjusted the slipper a little bit so it would kick in sooner than it would have b4 and i ordered the forward only conversion kit just a few mins ago
