Alright I've got a friend that is looking at buying a nitro and is on a budget and he asked me if two wheel drive would be okay for driving in a corn field. Like a nitro rustler and a stampede I know two wheel drives are a little bit cheaper but what one is better for off-road?

Of those two mentioned, the Stampede will have a higher ground clearance. However, it won't be the most stable thing in the world, as Stampedes are known for a high center of gravity.

His best option, if he's on a budget, is to look for a used HPI Savage, or even a T-maxx. Either one will have plenty of clearance, is 4wd, and will allow him to modify it as he progresses.

Truthfully you'd be better just getting the 4wd in the first place. It would probably cost more to add then to just buy it.

Agreed; the difference works out to about 50% or so of the cost of the parts.

Especially since it'd be ran in a corn field, the traction of 4wd is even more of a benefit.

When I was going to buy my first rc a couple of months ago a rustler or stampede were in my price range. But I really wanted a 4wd MT. So I decided to wait another week till I had enough $$ to get the T-maxx 2.5. In the end that extra week wait was well worth it IMO.

I was in the same situation as benjman but all it took was for my to drive up to the next hobby shop to find that they had a T-Maxx 2.5 which really caught my attention about a year ago. I asked the dealer what he thought about the Stampede and he told m:yes:e I was lucky I didnt fall for it...

Alright thanks I'll have to tell him that the t-maxx 2.5 is the way to go. I have got a t-maxx 2.5 and I told him it was a great truck.

T-Maxx 2.5 are great trucks. But I dont think constant driving in a corn field is a very good idea since it will put a lot of stress on it and cause it to do a lot of reving.
Do you mean on a bumpy cut down corn field with stumps all over?

Yes I would imagin that would be what and also he is on a budget for parts so I would imagine he would take that and rember it.
