I want a fast t-maxx i heard the ofna picco maxx .21 is a good motor for it. i can use a 2.5 or a 3.3 but need some recomedations for the engine trying to stay low on cost but can go up to 200.

I have the .26 I am having a heck of a time running it for first couple tanks I will let you know how it ends up going though...

what transmission do you have in yours??? did it come with a 2.5 or a 3.3 ????

The Picco .21Maxx is a hard engine to find and there is zero parts for it anymore. The .26 is about the only option unless you want to go with the OS .21TM. There is also the RB .23TM523 (which I hate) and Sirrio had a .27 at one time for the T-Maxx. If you have the 3.3 tranny you should not have a lot of problems with the .26 Picco. Matt yeah mine was a pain to break in too but I never had a pull start on mine. I didn't want the frustration of it.

I'm going to be honest i ran a 26 maxx on my truck for a while on the 3.3 transmission and now I'm running the lrp .28 s3 and i have no problems with the truck popping gears in the trans and i catwalk it all the time (i did upgrade the diffs though). the trick to the plastic transmission is to set your slipper properly! even the 2.5 trans can take it its one of the most beastly parts of our trucks! just set your slipper right is all and that 26 will scream in unison with it!

Yeah I put the e-z start on it and wallah got 2 full tanks threw her and sounds pretty cool, even though I am only running stock pipe for right now I gotta get to the lhs and grad a couple minor ones to slap my good pip on it. e-z start definetly a necesty (i can't spell) for break in!!!! I broke a 3.3 in with a pull start and my knuckles paid!!!
On my classic with a 3.3 in it I snapp shafts all the time and I know my slipper is setup right I even have the new system on it... You would have to replace parts alot faster due to the wear on smaller shafts that go with the black tranny and overall I would recomend the 3.3 tranny for anything bigger than a 3.3 really.. thats my .02 personal prefrence, and the 3.3 grey tranny is ready to go from the start with no reverse to mess with or anything like that...

Sounds like the the .26 on a 3.3 is the way to go if I'm not wrong?

Yeah he has the THS T-Maxx pipe but I was a dumb ass and left out the gasket when I sent it to him...so he has to go get a new one....

Isn't the factory pipe a small block pipe? Must be hell to keep a tune.

axually in the book it evem says to use the factory pipe and all that good stuff, plus its not like I am out running it hard right now either..

this is from a communication a couple of months ago i made with ofna regarding issues with one of these .26 maxx. before i post this i want to highlight that my engine was an exception, this is a GOOD mill, and that the only reason i am posting this is so you can consider his observations on warrantied engines.

Also would recomend to use a good quality fuel not to exceed 12% oil. An improper tune, or a high oil percentage can push fuel out of the front seal. We do not recomend to use sealer on our engines. The use of sealer can void the engine warranty. The warranty on the engine is 30 days from original date of purchase against manufacturer defects. This is on a case by case basis.

great want to be able to beat my friends slash vxland that should do it!!!
I recently found a used truck with aluminum upgrades (not inegtry aluminum) with a ofna hyper turbo .21 I'm not to good with knowing if its a good or bad engine so i need a little help. How good are these engines and do they beat the .26?

Nope the .26 will still take it. It is CALLED a turbo but it is not actually turbo which does not work on a 2 stroke nitro engine.

It would take some seriously setup nitro rig to beat a bl rig on some good lipos. Doubt a tmaxx could do it.
