I wanted to know if a small tear in the blue rubber that covers the slide on the outside of the carb can effect the settings on the carb or is it just there to keep out dust and dirt?

yeah its just a dust cover. all slide carbs got those. but if i was you i would change it anyway ,its goin to protect your barrel from all that dust and sand from scuffing it

You might want to replace that boot. It prevents dust from getting into the carburetor, and helps the carb form a slight seal. If it has a hole in it, that could create an air leak, or worse yet, suck in dirt.

Replacing it is easy; simply undo the set screw on the linkage collar, and peel the bellow off.

Thanks guys I guess all be pulling the motor so i can change the boot , do you know if it is sold by its self??
