ok, my t-maxx won't go 5 feet and then it stops. My antennae is ok on the controller but the other antennae on the truck was ripped accidently. What problems could there be with the truck? How can I fix them?
I can send pictures of anything.

Thanx,
DMAN

Ripped off... as in gone? How much is left? If you loose an inch or so, it's normally ok. But if you only have like 4 inches left, your not going very far.

You either need a new receiver or if you can solder, a new antenna wire. Do you have the piece that ripped off? If so, it will make it easier to figure out how long it should have been so you can put the new one on and cut it to length.

You can buy just the wire: Futaba 27Mhz JR Antenna Either of these should work. You may have to cut a little off to make it match the length of the one you broke.

What do you mean, it just goes 5 feet and stops. Do you have a failsafe in it?
If you didn't, it runs the risk of going WOT.

If you broke the antenna lead in the truck, it MUST be replaced.

ok about 4-5 inches was ripped off.
But the car ran fine for quite a long time. Then he hit a fence and broke some things and now it goes five feet and you don't have control over it.
I don't have a fail safe.

You do know that you can pick up a RX for around 40 bux on ebay right? For that moeny you can get a FM radio like the XR3i or even the XS3. All are capable of the 3 channel for reverse.

Junk the rx and replace it or replace the whole set up.

My truck is almost the same way, I can only stand on thepitchers mound of a little league diamond and drive my maxx to the edge of the dirt. I have flipped many times without body, so I wonder if the antenna is the problem. Thanks!!

Is performance better if you upgrade the t-maxx radio from stock?

No, it won't improve performance, other than perhaps faster or stronger servos. However, if you upgrade to a programmable radio, fine tuning adjustments will be much easier.

So when you upgrade a radio, what do you need to change on the car itself?

Basically, just the receiver. When I upgraded to a programmable FM radio, I kept the stock servos in the car, and the new ones for spares.

if you still have the stock steering servo you should upgrade that to a higher torque metal gear servo, that will give more performance as far as steering response time...then you can use your stock steering servo for the throttle and you'll see more braking power....the Futaba 3pm is nice and cheap.....it will cost about 150 bucks to do the radio and a better servo.....worth it.....

The airtronics MX-3 is $99 and is a pretty good radio as well. You can spend a little more to get another servo, but they are just standard servo's that aren't strong enough to do much.
